OT: University of Alabama Made Almost $100 Million From Football In 2015

The profile of their school keeps rising along with it. Surprised to hear the number of kids going to SEC schools from out here now, specifically Alabama and Ole Miss.

Hot chicks, good weather, inexpensive...guess it isn't that hard to figure out.

My daughters best friend is going to Ole Miss next year which baffles me. I get the tailgating and all but Mississippi is a whole other world from the Jersey shore

It's not just LA I have been hearing about SEC schools. Going back to Baltimore, I have heard those schools mentioned often and noticed a ton of decals (decidedly east coast thing) on cars. Far more than even10 years ago. A guy I talked to said it was due to big time football, chicks, weather, affordability.

I have to believe that is right.

That's all? I am really surprised that it isn't bigger. The money from the products with their logo on it alone must bring in a bundle. Maybe they are not reporting it all.

If I had to do it all over again, I would consider one of the SEC schools, along with FSU.

My God is it cheaper.

In my slender experience, northerners either love being at southern schools or hate it. It's hard to predict which will be true.

Affordability is the name of the game.

Alabama, for example, guaranteed free tuition for any applicant with at least a 28 ACT composite when I was applying to colleges. State funding works wonders.

I would bet that for at least 8 of 10 female applicants, hot chicks on campus are not a draw.

Ole Miss is cheating on a level that Alabama won't tolerate, they'll get slammed.

Sorry but if you want a high paying job in the Northeast or West Coast, aka where the money is at, those SEC degrees are not worth too much (besides Vandy). However if you are going into field where you just need any degree so that HR can check a box and the school doesn't matter, then yeah BBQ and southern girls, why not?!?

You can get a job at GE or UTC with a degree from any school. Cost =/= quality.

Is there something wrong if your kid wants to go to an out of state university. They get to experience another place and different people. Those help in maturing and growing as a person.

You WANT to live in the high income tax states of the Northeast or California? Where property taxes are ridiculous?
Where traffic is a daily headache?

Personally, I'll stay down South and eke out a low 6 figure income and enjoy BBQ and talk with, and admire Southern women. Heck I might even enjoy some fishing and football on occasion.

At the end of the day, you went to "State."

It doesn't matter you went to "Northeast State," Midwest State,” “West State,” or South State.” You want to “State.”

If you work hard, get good grades, and have perseverance, you are going to make it in life. People are catching on. The “Michigan” arrogance along with the rest of “My State school is basically a public Ivy,” is getting old and people now know you overpaid.
