Booked a list minute yesterday during happy hour flight to Vegas (on the plane now). I've only been one other time and it was for work so didn't do much of anything. For you experienced Vegasers any recommendations for cheap drinks and places to watch the games over the next few days? Any other sex, drugs, and/or alcohol related advice is also appreciated!

Mirage has one of the better Sportsbooks on the strip with really good seating but plan on getting there early 2+ hours if you want a seat. Drink tickets were one per $100 bet. Across the street at the Venetian drink tickets took $250 bet. I hear the Superbook at the Westgate was renovated this past fall and was close to completion and is expected to be a fun place to watch the games.

Off the strip, I prefer Red Rock Resort. Great viewing, good seating and drink tickets were two per $100.

Another option is to place your bets and go somewhere else than the Sports book to watch. There's a new pedestrian mall next to the Linq (just look for the Ferris wheel) with a number of good bars for game watching. My favorite is the Yardhouse with 130 beers on tap.

Cool... Kinda sucks they limit the drinks... I was just looking for a place to make bets..

The Mirage is my favorite Sportsbook also. It's one of the larger ones around with lots of seating and big screens everywhere. As far as women and other vices, you don;t have to look for them in Vegas, they will find you.

Staying at the MGM, free room, but I'll make sure to check out everyone's Reccos... Keep em coming!

On a side note, my flight is through Phoenix from Charlotte (live in Durham) and it's packed with Orange and Purple... Can't wait to see a good ol SEC Beatdown @Southern Gentleman

Does Casino Royale still have $1 Michelob? What was the casino next door that had $1'50 for a hot dog and a Heineken?

Go to LV a lot - was there this week for CES. My favorite sports book is Venetian - watched the Texas/USC champ game there (Vince Young game). If you want best burger in town (besides In and Out) go to Burger Bar in mall at Mandalay. Go to a lot of great fancy places since I'm never paying - let me know if you want $$$$ recommendations.

I've been to Las Vegas about 20x since I first visited Sin City for an RU/UNLV hoops game in 1991. The best sports book is Westgate (the old Hilton). The monorail leaves you off right in front of the place. You'll thank me later. [winking]

I think Westgate offers the best odds (especially for futures bets), but the place is a little run down and off the strip. Next door to convention center.

The fact that it offers the best odds is the reason it's the best sports book. Of course, that's my way of thinking. As noted in the links, they are in the midst of making huge upgrades to the place.

I have witnessed the upgrades. Mainly incredibly large high def screens. Also, full pay Video Poker!!!

I've been going to Vegas with buddies off and on for March Madness to bet our faces off for the last 15 years. Here are my top 5 sports books:
1) Ceasars
2) Mandalay Bay
3) Planet Hollywood- smaller venue but underrated
4) Palms- the poker tables are in front of the sports book so you have unobstructed views of the games. You can get free drinks every 30 min playing 1-2 no limit.
5) Venetian

Also if you are looking for economic options in Vegas, you probably shouldn't go.

This guy knows what he's talking about. I saw him banging cocktail waitresses two at a time. The customers at the Venetian were complaining they couldn't get their drinks.
