OT: Walker to Michigan.

It must be nice as a coaching staff/fanbase knowing that you have the inside track to the top recruits. I wonder if that will ever be us.

It's even better knowing that he was never going to come to Rutgers and that the reasons had nothing to do with the school or the coaching staff.

Why didn't he call up Harbaugh at halftime of the bowl game like he did when he committed to Ohio State?

Is this because of Partridge ?
IMO it has more to do with being recruited hard by Mitchell (constantly on twitter) & into joining his buddies at Michigan to form what they believe to be a "fab25" class from NJ. Then the idea becomes, "Hey, I will be comfortable in AA because a bunch of other guys from Jersey are going so everything will be lollipops and unicorns...I'm sold." The problem is that in "reality" following others rarely works out if ever (what if some decommit or transfer?, don't get playing time, etc) and now you are at a school wondering about your playing time (Harbaugh will over recruit your position) because you followed your head (or rather Ahmir's) and not your heart. If only they put all that energy into staying home where they are truly needed....Reportedly he was still undecided so why rush? That's what got him in the first situation with tOSU rushing to commit and make a splash during their championship game.

We beat Michigan last year and they blow us out this year. It is unlikely we will even be competitive with them for another decade.

We just don't have the players to compete in the BIG.

Don't need him.
We want players who would be proud to play for their home state .
There aren't enough top tier NJ players who want to play for Rutgers. It has nothing to do with instate loyalty but rather perception that favors schools like Michigan,Ohio State and Notre Dame. They can and will continue to cherry pick the best players nationwide.

Not picking on you because that's a common sentiment. But why would anybody be proud of any home state anywhere? Never understood this.

We want players that are really good at football, are reasonably intelligent, and are reasonably decent people. And if those players have to feel proud about something, it should be for something they've worked hard on and earned. Not something they were born with, born into or otherwise gifted.

I really don't care where the players come from, how they feel about their home state. It's totally irrelevant to playing football.

But how can this be. I thought Schiano was supposed to lock up all NJ players for OSU?

I guess there should be the same reaction whenever we lose a recruit -- "Who Cares?" "He wasn't that good" "Somebody else is better"

Geez, what's your problem with Schiano? Did he kill a family member? I think you've got OCD.

4 of the top 7 from New Jersey are going to Michigan. That is absolutely pathetic and this better change.

Ash has a lot of work to do to convince these kids in NJ, PA, NY and Florida that Rutgers is committed to big time football. Hopefully he will get the support he needs from the Admin.

Who? Me? I don't have any problem with Schiano.

I thought all the highly rated NJ kids were going to tOSU now that Greg is there.

Wasn't that you, mildone?

Now that's RutgHoops. Just sounds like an awful lot of bitterness.

Not a Rutgers man...wow am I the first to post this?..on this thread

Michigan obviously has good players but the one position that is short on talent is runningback. Walker has a great opportunity to get serious playing time next year on a team that should be pretty darn good as UM returns most of their talent going into next year.

I can't speak for anybody else, but you are misreading me if you think I'm bitter about anything. I'm teasing the alarmists who swore that Schiano would lock up NJ for OSU. I bear no ill will towards Schiano.

I don't get bitter about football. Actually, having thought about it for a minute, I don't get bitter about anything.

I consider myself a big Schiano fan. Just a little poke at the "sky is falling" posts regarding Greg to tOSU that permeated the board this week.

Whoops! Sometimes the sarcasm goes right over my head. And I guess I'm developing a knee-jerk reaction to the anti-Schiano stuff.

Mea culpa.
