OT: Was it a Bull Shark or a Great White in 1916.

But wasn't the shark caught in the Raritan Bay a Great White ? This conflicts with the fact that only Bull sharks are known to be able to swim in fresh water ( Matawan Creek). So maybe this was actually two sharks. A great white that killed the two swimmers along the coast and a Bull that swam up the creek and did its damage there.
Very possible.
Too much time has passed to really know for sure. Only info is from media reports. Most papers in those days were tabloid-ish, so you have to filter out the garbage. Have to think there was much hype with this one. Like the human remains inside the sharks, are there any pics? Or, is it just" a guy said that he heard" kind of stuff.

When my wife was a little girl in Matawan (early 70’s) they used to have one of Lester Stilwell’s friends talk about it at an assembly.

And the Shark Team is a real thing.😛

Much like today, instead of tabloid-ish, it is now fake news.
