Currently, Is there any way refs can review or coaches can challenge the refs to review a play: e.g. Johnson's tip in?

If not is there any movement toward having a challenge like the Football side of the aisle?

Follow up question - is there any reason why a play like that is not reviewable? Why is there ANY play that’s not reviewable? And don’t say because they want less reviews to keep the game flowing - the refs went to the monitor EVERY CHANCE they had to call something back against RU - if they really wanted to speed up the game they would tell the refs in their officials meeting in B1G HQ to limit your reviews. Didn’t happen tonight

It can't be reviewed until Duke, Kansas, UNC etc. get screwed enough that they force the NCAA to change this and other idiotic rules.

Really? Did that happen at the end of the game? I can find 2 pts all over the game. I get the frustration but that’s a reach.

@RutgersMO I was covering a game in Tampa so I'm not familiar with the play you are referring to. Coaches can ask for reviews of certain plays but I do not believe basket interference is one of those plays.

If you get a chance see if you can watch the Iowa- RU game. The officiating was poor and lopsided.

If we were Duke or UNC the tip in would have been ruled as Kosher. But we're not...we didn't and we lost by 2.

Also the foul on Mathis steal where Bohannon grabbed or hooked his arm as Mathis was headed for a dunk was ruled a regular foul...not flagrant.

If we were Duke or UNC the foul would have been called flagrant and thou Mathis missed both FT's....who knows we might scored. But we're not ...they didn't rule it flagrant and we lost by 2.

Then there's the "what's a foul"? Johnson gets hit with a body while shooting as time hits ZERO. No call. Let them play...I get it. But the foul on Mathis letting sharp shooting Bohannon or Conner (the coaches' son) shoot / sink two...didn't have any effect did it?

If we were Duke or UNC the world would be easier...right now it's the RU SCREW in full bloom!

Who is the tall bald ref? I haven’t seen a guy run faster to the locker room after a game since the St. John’s disaster several years back at the Garden. Pikiell asked for help all night and got nothing. You would think one of the refs would eventually step in and overturn 1 bad call but it never happened? Not one illegal screen was called on iowa. Their guard slips and falls and travels but a foul gets called in a critical moment.

I just feel like our kids were cheated. They played their hearts out.

I said the same thing about lack of illegal screens . Every game you see multiple moving screens called on us and even other teams . We played man all night and they set multiple on ball abs off all screens all night especially at the end when their guard was coming off multiple . Yet not one called all game . It’s shocking but when you don’t get a good whistle ever like us I guess it’s not

Chain of command. Pike has been working the refs for weeks at least. If Hobbs doesn’t intervene it’s a massive failure on his part.

The game wasn't loss because of the two plays you cite.How about the poor foul shooting that caused far more loss points ?The game was loss on the last possession by Iowa making a banked 3 pointer with 3 seconds remaining in the game.One play was the difference between winning and losing just like Baker making the 3 pointer would have been the difference.

They were looking at the time in that game to make sure the shot was good . They can’t change the goaltending call however . Stupid rule because they can go to monitor to look on a two or three call of foot was on a line so y not goaltending ?

The ref that made that horsesh!t goaltending call WAS NOT IN POSITION to make that call. The ref that was in position did not blow his whistle

As an official, YOU DONT GUESS when you are not in position. He f in blew the call.

That ref killed us for the last 12 minutes of the game. Don’t defend a horse crap ref.

If true it would eliminate tip ins or rebounds that were above the rim....which doesn't seem to be the case: watch any lob pass that is slammed for a dunk. In the lob passes: is the ball above or below the rim... whether on the rim or not!

If true: change it to balls in the cylinder can't be touched by the O or the D.
PERIOD!

I haven't watched the entire game (busy with other stuff) but I watched the basket interference play, Geo's shot with 3 seconds left and the shot from the corner that Iowa hit.

When I saw it in real time, from the BTN broadcast angle, it looked like basket interference. When I saw it in super slow motion from the camera mounted on the basket, the ball appeared to be off the rim. A small portion of the ball may have still been in the cylinder though.

Per the rules, unfortunately, the officials can't review this type of play.

On the last play of the game I was surprised that Rutgers didn't guard the Iowa player throwing the ball in, but the thing that really had me scratching my head was Doorson defending Wieskamp.

I appreciate you using the tagging feature but, to tag me successfully, you need a space between my first and last name. Otherwise I won't receive an alert.

I love the use of replay, but I also believe its use needs to be limited, otherwise, coaches will ask for the officials to review plays just so they can get a free timeout. I am no replay rule expert, but I believe some plays, such as determining of a flagrant foul occurred, can be reviewed at any time during the game.

The key with any review is whether or not there is "indisputable evidence" to reverse a call made on the floor.

Right now I don't think there is a "challenge" rule like in football, where you lose a timeout if you lose the challenge, but if that is something that the coaches want I would expect the NCAA Rules Committee to move in that direction.
