The Pitt board currently has him featured on its site and states, "he has some decisions to make, but Pitts in the mix." Has he decommitted???

No he clearly says when he meets ash and the staff and he likes them he wont look anywhere else.

Has not decommitted, but will be taking visits. Already did an official visit to Boston College and Wisconsin. Still think Rutgers is reasonably well positioned, but when Flood got fired (or the season was going down the tubes), Rene basically indicated that he would make sure Rutgers was the right decision. Naming Ash as the head coach should help us, though.

Whoever gets him gets a couple other nice kids next cycle....he's been pretty coy recently. Red Flag but he'd be a great coup for us....if he was solid for KF HCCA should be able to reel/close him in...esp as a DB guy.

I don't know how likely this is but apparently he has decided to visit Pitt.

Lets see how it goes.

Recruiting is over in February.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Tell the truth. On your very own board posters said, based on the interview Pitt was 5th on Rene's list. Rene is probably taking a free trip.
Still in denial about Narduzzi being in touch with Rutgers about the job after one year at Pitt.

Pat Narduzzi turned down 2 head coaching positions before accepting the Pitt HC position.
The two schools were UConn the year before and Colorado State the year he came to Pitt.

Narduzzi never had any interest in the Rutgers job after one year at Pitt. LOL!!!!!

Narduzzi and his staff will be making more than what Rutgers will be paying Ash and his staff and will be getting an extension and raise after the Bowl game.

As I said I don't know the interest of Rene in Pitt but nether do the other Pitt Board members you reference.
What I do know is if you get a recruit to visit you have a chance. Hey Tyler Boyd is going to the NFL and we also need people to occupy Revis Island. Who knows what recruits are thinking. He comited to Rutgers but still taking visits.

What I also know is you have a new head coach who is in Columbus with no announced staff to date and worrying about Ohio State (which he was paid $600,000 as Co-DC and not in NB even though he is paid $2.0 million).

I also know Narduzzi and the entire Pitt assistant coaching staff are actively recruiting.

Ash thinks none of this matters maybe it doesn't.

Recruiting ends in February.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

It's been reported earlier in the week, but hey it's in the past. Ash is the man here... next!

Ash is following through on his commitment to his old job. You know when people leave one job for another they usually give notice about moving on and when they do it, they just don't jump ship. Honor your commitments. Tom Hermann did it last year while at Ohio St and it wasn't a problem. Stop trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Btw, must be slow over on the Pitt site. I've noticed you spend quite a bit of time over here talking shop. Can't get that over there?[roll]

Wasn't his top 2 RU and Ohio State? We are fine. Coach Ash will lock him up.

What is Narduzzi making at Pitt? I thought they were only semi-public and didn't have to release that information to the public?

No one needs to educate a pit fan on coaching departures. They usually get an annual lesson and would have again this year if Rutgers had not went with Ash.

Flood had a contract. Julie had a contract. Yet Rutgers dismissed both without cause.
Hey it happens all the time in coaching.
Good for Ohio State maybe not so much for Rutgers.

Involved in discussions pertaining to Rutgers and Pitt.

ORLY?

"Hobbs said he interviewed six candidates by phone. He declined to name any, though Gannett New Jersey has confirmed that mutual interest existed between Rutgers and former Miami coach Al Golden, a Colts Neck native, as well as Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi."

He wasn't ...lol. He was a guy the writer felt you should have reached out too. It's a nice problem to have a coach others want. It means he is moving things in the right direction. Notice you fired yours and your big ten brother in Pa. never got a sniff either...too bad. Good luck with your new coach.

fuhgetaboutit....he's not going there as much as i like you personally....you're having problems hanging on to your own DB's and PBurg ain't NYC Metro or Narduzzi ain't HCCA,,, but don't worry..you'll do OK come FEB...but not at our expense..he's taking several visits and i don't see you guys getting him...he's not a rube..no offense.

YOUR WRONG ON OUR BOARD.BUT IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER he WAS a FINALIST..

DENIAL, DENIAL. Must be standard for Pitt fans.[winking]

Let's wrap it up for this thread.

I find it ironic that you think this was true.

Note: No one in the Pittsburgh or National Media mentioned this fact.

No sports director or Newspaper in Pittsburgh asked Narduzzi about him exploring the Rutgers job.

With 15 or more HC jobs available, no one is commenting about Narduzzi going after another HC position but Rutgers.

Maybe, Hobbs had a "Double Secret Probation" for Narduzzi.

Maybe, the talk went like this:

Coach Narduzzi I'm Hobbs, ESQ.

Who are you an attorney.

No, I'm an AD.

Would you have an interest in a new HC opportunity.

Maybe, if you pay me $5.0 million per year and my staff gets $ 5.0 million per year.

No thats too high.

OK, Bye.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!!

Moron...Your coach reached out to us. It's been well documented. He wants to coach in a real conference that doesn't rent a half empty stadium.

You should report this to the Pittsburgh media.

Believe me, they would be interested in this if it was true.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

I don't know one way or the other, but if Narduzzi was approached, he didn't accept the job.

Did he want more, or was he happy where he was as; really doesn't matter. I WOULD be surprised if ANY coach wouldn't at least listen to an offer. The day a coach is hired, he is one day closer to being fired, so there is never harm in listening to other schools' interest levels.

Yep, we are in total denial. I mean. not only did Narduzzi want the job, but Dan Mullen from the SEC was interested in the USC of the East, that perennial sleeping giant Rutgers! Heck, I also heard Bill Belichick and Pete Carol expressed interest as well. But Rutgers said no thanks, Chris Ash is a better candidate.

Please. Phil Campbell is visiting Pitt this weekend, and Justin Morgan will be soon as well. Good luck!

Wisconsin coaches met Rene in Virginia today. They are flying to Canada tomorrow to meet his parents. Hope there's nothing to this.

can't read what you're saying (ignore list), but you seem to take everything to heart. Panthergrowl understood the thread is over and moved on, but you won't let this go.

Hahaha...yep, Gannett confirmed it. I could care less what you folks think, but Pitt fans know my connection with the Duzz and I know this was 100% untrue. Rutgers reached out to Pat, not the other way around, and Pat said "no thanks" as feelers were put out before the season ended. He had interest after Mr. Wood Chopper left for the pros but decided to stick with MSU.

Duzz may one day leave Pitt, but things are a million times different now at Pitt than they were before this year and he very happy there. As they say, yinz guys have no clue.

To be fair, you have to admit that Narduzzi will have a tougher time with Ash than he would have with Flood. LOL. I'm sure there will be recruiting wins and losses for both our teams.

For me, I'm just happy the RU Administration seems to be taking this seriously. (At first look anyway, only time will tell.)

Good luck to Pitt, enjoy the holidays. I'm good with banter, but we don't always need to be after each other.

I'm always good with banter, and don't take any of this personally. I'm closer to this situation and Rutgers wasn't the only school to reach out to Pat, and Pat said "thanks, but no thanks."
That's nothing against Rutgers but he's got a ton of control and things going for him at Pitt he likes.

Honestly, I thought Flood locked up a few guys that Pitt wanted like Rene and Morgan and a couple others like KJ Sails, but who knows how Ash does? There's so many intangibles it's hard to say. Maybe Ash is a homerun hire and crushes it, maybe he fails? Who knows but both will have impacts in recruiting in NJ and eastern Pa.

False, he reached out to us and we listened. He wants no part of the ACC.

Narduzzi didn't have a committable offer.

Yes, this thread is that stupid.
