there I didn't say jobbed. Good game Jets.

Steve Harvey and Slater, brothers in arms.

Yeah that was weird.

Edit: Pats score late to tie it up and amd eventually goes into OT. Pats win the coin toss, but inexplicably elect to kick off. Jets march down the field for a TD and the win. It was Matthew Slater for the Pats who was the bonehead.

The nitwit who decided to kick when winning the coin toss in OT of the Jets/Pats game.

Downright flummoxed. I saw Belichek speaking to him how can he make that call. Well I guess Laviano's spike is now in third place.
4th place - I'd put Kirk Cousins ridiculous kneel down last night at the end of the first half in front of the Laviano spike.

I Googled Slater to make sure he has no RU connections. (UCLA grad). The Wikpedia listing ALREADY has a notation "He was killed by Bill Belichek for winning the OT coin toss and electing to kick vs the Jets"

His wiki page is changing by the second. His postion was just listed as "former coin toss expert" his name says, "Matthew i don't want no ball Slater"

He is Jackie Slater's son

Even Kirk Cousins was confused by Matt Slater's decision to kick that ball in OT.

Belichek says he wanted to kick but slater did screw up by saying kick rather than deferring and then choosing the direction to kickoff. So really not as bad as first thought. Belichek has elected to kick with the new OT rules a few other times.

“I asked him three or four times to make sure I’m not the guy that goes out there, ‘Yeah, we want to kick off!’ I asked him three or four times and he looked at me like I was concussed because I kept asking him. That’s what we wanted to do,” explained Slater. “You never question coach’s decision making. He’s the best in the business and we trust him fully.”

Coach Belichek wanted to kick off from a specific end of the field and....Slater should have said "we want to kick off from this end of the field" instead of just "we want to kick off" option....this is a mistake by Coach Belichek.

Belachik told him to do it.

The bolded suggestion is what happened. It was the wrong thing to say. He should have said "we want to defend this end" and then let the Jets take the ball. As soon as he said kick the decision was made.
