Pike is just too nice of a guy. He doesn’t seem to have that killer instinct to be determined to win every game. I think that was good for the long game when you could rely on retaining players, but not so much anymore.

I’m not sure what other explanation would lead to Martini playing 20mins vs Princeton after not playing earlier. Had he played the lineups that gave them the best chance to win, it would have changed the outcome. But he wanted to be nice to Martini.

When we could’ve picked anyone for the technical free throws, he picks Ace who shoots sub 60% instead of Hayes who’s over 80%. He didn’t want to risk upsetting his star who missed both. Just too nice, clearly the wrong decision if the goal is to win.

I had a boss once, very smart and nice guy. People took advantage on our team and didn’t pull their weight. Only solution was to fire a few people. He didn’t have it in him to do that, so instead, he took a job elsewhere. Reminds me of Pike.

Pikes a nice guy. But guys like Hurley win. Gotta pick one or the other.

Yea Pike’s too nice. He let Martini play a lot against Princeton bc its his old team. Sorry this is big boy bball. I get not having him a complete DNP but princeton kept running picks to switch him to Lee and got toasted. Obviously Grant could have done a better job staying with Lee off a switch

Martini has not worked out. There is no way to spin it, but if he were to step up and be a huge value, it was probably vs Princeton. He obviously knows the team and offense. I would have relied on him too that game. The game plan to switch and not hedge or blitz on the pick and roll was a bigger issue. The roster has a bunch of one dimensional players and the coaches can’t put the pieces together or put them in the right spots. We are all searching for answers but there does not appear to be any.
