PJ Fleck looks to Pack Kalaamazoo city not just stadium for College Game Day

My Lord. We couldn't even get it in Nov of 2006 and Kalama-freakin-zoo gets it. SMH.
We didn't deserve it. We can't get people to the Scarlet Walk and when the BTN did there version we had less than 200 people. People complained because it was 11am and last week Washington Husky fans packed the place at 6am.

Bully! (lol..) "we didn't deserve it." BTN is NOT ESPN "game day" - at least nowhere close to it - so I'm not biting and the Scarlet Walk, well, we've been over that one before. Game Day, at RU, would draw HUGE throngs. No ifs, ands, or buts, if just because of the fact that students would be there in the thousands.

Scarlet Walk: The only walk in the Country that ignores all the students and most of the fans? RU has no one to blame but themselves. Could start at the circle or Welcome Center instead the one area with nobody present! Brilliant!! I would put a big old statute or big scarlet R in that circle. What do I know?

No we wouldn't. As much as we on this board LOVE Rutgers its still a pro region. Within 45 miles of HPSS there are 3 NFL teams. Our fan base doesn't do early. No way in he'll you get thousands there at 9am. The other problem in the past is Rutgers biggest games were played in Thursday.
The two biggest games on a Saturday within the past 5 years was Arkansas and 3 hours before the game lots were empty. For PSU it was embarrassing empty during the day as it was drizzling.
You can say you might be there but Rutgers fans are soft doing morning anything

Hey we finally AGREE on something! Most "walks" are anywhere from a quarter-mile to mile long! Some start by dorms and go through them until they reach the stadium. Some start on one side of a stadium and go completely around it! Some start at the beginning of mile-long lots! Ours? Ours is EASILY the most pathetic "walk" out there IMHO.

The #1 reason the school doesn't start the walk at the circle is 2 1/2 hours before the game is that the Blue Lot and Yellow lot are empty at that time.

Couldn't disagree with you more. New Jerseyans live for "limelight" stuff like a "game day' type of event. The crowds, THAT year, or any other in which we're having a very good season, would be enormous. 9AM or otherwise.

9:30 for a 12:00 game and the distance from the blue lot would have the same result anywhere. Instead of whining, fix the problem. Time to try something different.

Explain the empty lots for the Cincinnati game with 1st place on the line a few years back? Noon start. Lots nearly completely empty. 50 people at the Scarlet Walk. I posted pictures that night how embarrassing it was.
And the excuse that it too far a walk backs me up. We have a lazy fan base.

Do you think the non die hards give a rat's ass of the Scarlet Walk? Most fans still don't know what it is.

Remember this year when they placed the student lot even further away. Scarlet walk does nothing to encourage student participation. Doomed from start. RU Stadium's unique geography with no fans on two sides closest to stadium doesn't help either. Not a lazy fan base but impractical. Time to try something new.

Because a lot of people believe he should have been made the HC at RU.
Many on this Board were mocking his rah rah style 2 years ago.
Now they look foolish.
Sorry, sir, PJ is still a goofball. His schtick works and WMU. Let's see if it works with a P5 team. I wish him no ill will. And as well as he is done, his antics are still worthy of laughs.

Having the students further away has zero to do with it. The students aren't there that early even if they place them in the Glen.
Edit. The more I think about that is a perfect spot for the students. And they should allow legal age students to be allowed to bring there own beer into the Glen. Get rid of the paid band and bring in a DJ!

Got to give him props on this one, running down the sideline. He has energy that is working up his team, and he is producing a winner. Good for him.

Don't forget about Schianoville. Over 5000 lined up at 8am. If the program generates enough excitement to book Gameday, the fans will show up in force.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers student section ticket allotment of 10,500 seats were distributed in just four hours Tuesday morning at the Student Ticket Gate at Rutgers Stadium. More than 1,000 Rutgers students camped out overnight outside Rutgers Stadium in anticipation of Tuesday morning's student ticket distribution for Thursday night's BIG EAST showdown between No. 14 Rutgers and No. 3 Louisville.

When ticket distribution commenced at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, the line had grown to over 5,000 students, stretching halfway around the stadium's perimeter.

Head coach Greg Schiano greeted the students in line late Monday evening, handing out 50 pizzas to the enthusiastic supporters, igniting several Rutgers chants.

Some teams walk a mile? I know the fans probably love it, but that seems like a waste of time and energy.

With a hundred guys, that probably takes at least 30 minutes? IMHO that would be better spent prepping for the game or even just relaxing. Putting in a mile before even entering the stadium seems like a bad idea.

Okay it may not be a mile but I've seen plenty of "game days" - which I was way too many of - in which teams are clearly walking from distances very, very far from the stadium, when they show them on TV. Like easily more than a half mile. They're some of the best athletes in the nation, btw, I highly doubt it's an issue 2.5 to 3.0 hours prior to game time. [thumb2]

I think he'd turn Purdue around, honestly.....they finally have the facilities and resources, all they really need is excitement and recruiting and something like a coach that you can't find a peer to. As for laughs, I'll take the laughs if they come with wins and unprecedented enthusiasm.

I'll take laughing at the coach if it comes with wins too. That last gif I posted above is pretty cool.

North Dakota must be down this year. This is usually their week as SEC plays their 1AA games

You mean North Dakota State. The coach who built that program, incidentally, is turning around things at Wyoming, which is 7-3 at the moment.

I will admit his antics are over the top. But his team has bought into him and his staff and they are winning.
Let's see how he does at the next level. Would think a P5 team will be calling him soon.
