Politi's article on Coach and the passing of his mother

Not looking to derail this thread... and not looking to pick at old wounds... or anything like that --- really!

but, watching Pike last 2 weeks with the difficulty/tragedy and leadership... and hearing him apologize for missing one practice (for the first time ever in his career) - for his own mothers funeral...

just for an instant I thought of Gary Waters flying out of town mid-season for a gloried dinner party...............

we are lucky to have a good man like Pike!

I normally will not read too many of Politi’s articles for obvious reasons but I was curious about Coach’s moms passing and I clicked on it. What a moving article that gave you just a little insight to what a special man we have coaching here. To juggle the team , his Mom’s health, her passing the morning of the Illinois game while he was on the road, to planning her funeral and eulogy , while coaching his team through the best stretch of the season is remarkable. Blessings and prayers to you Coach as someone who lost their mom a little over a year ago , know that she is watching down over you and is proud as heck . God bless her soul.
