Ash wouldn't talk about it. Does anyone have any possible insight? Any chance any OSU assistants take a promotion and Ash brings them along?

Um, you can take Tim Beck if you'd like. We would love to outsource him somewhere else. Since Chris Ash is too smart for that, I hope he doesn't try to convince Larry Johnson to come with him. UGH! I would be so mad. It would be cool to see him take Luke Fickell, but I doubt he would leave.

He would definitely benefit from taking someone like Larry Johnson, but I'm not sure who else might leave. He might want a fresh start or take some people from his Arkansas or Wisconsin connections!

Tim Beck had a difficult first year with OSU......but, his track record at Kansas as Pass Game Coordinator and Nebraska as OC is not that bad.

Larry Johnson would be a major coup, but we can only afford him if he is DC. Could he be a DC under Ash?

I honestly don't think he an X and O type of guy. He is the best of what he does but there a reason he never been a DC. I think if his goal was to be a DC he would have left when Illinois had offered the DC job. The guy has been talking about retiring and becoming a minister for years. So I honestly believe his next job will be that. On the other hand do you really want a 63 year old learning to be a DC for the first time.

It's going to be hard to get OSU guys as they are all making top buck for what they do.

In thinking about how Ash can maximise his dollars, I'm wondering if he wants to bring in a young guy as DC to learn under him at a lower rate, and spend the bigger bucks on an OC where he has a huge need?

Another possibility would be to bring in Johnson as co-DC with Ash. Let Johnson focus on what Johnson does well and Ash could be the overall/schemer guy. But don't know what Johnson is already making? Also, Johnson could be a yoda kind of guy for the program.

Fun to speculate.

Chris Ash will probably be the DC and make the play calls. I wonder why noone asked that at the presser. And whoever we name the DC will not really be the DC.

No way Ash is DC or making calls. This ain't bullshit Rutgers football anymore. He will have his DC in the booth calling in plays.

All making Top Buck ? Wasn't Ash as the OSU DC only making $500k per year ?

Bobby Acosta - WR Coach and RC for Cuse. NJ guy. Greg Toal is a fan of his and the players we want all love him. Unlike EJB, Acosta is a highly experienced football coach in addition to being a strong recruiter.
