Curious what you all think, I'm gonna venture to guess 7,000 loyal scarlet knights fans or so. Its a 4 hr drive, and we know at least the visiting allotment is sold out.

I originally said 8-10k and I'm sticking with it.

One factor that could deter a lot of fans (especially the last minute folks) is the hotel situation, i dont even think you can get anything anywhere near state college, and a month ago it was like $300-400. I actually booked my hotel exactly one year out.

Huh? Why would PSU fans buy through Rutgers when they have thousands available in much better sections.

Seems simple. Take a question where you have no idea, make something up, and then pass it off as true. Posters do it all the time. As you said, a PSU fan buying tickets in the RU sections when they can get better seats elsewhere is ridiculous.

Around 3,500, not all of the allotment was purchased by or for RU fans.

Ridiculous statement. The visitors seats at PSU are some of the worst seats in the house. My guess is about 6,000 tops. The hotel situation hurts especially since its a night game ( a 3:30 start is doable in 1 day from northern NJ).Since my son is a senior there I booked the Nittany Lion Inn on campus last September

7500...its going to be a loud rendition of on the Banks in victory around 11:45 pm on Saturday, Sept 19th

8PM kickoff hurts RU attendance with hotel room availability being very tight. Getting home at 4AM after a 4 hour drive is not for everyone.

RU would be much better represented with a noon or 3:30 PM start.

6K.

High prices for tickets and hotels along with the late start will keep a lot of folks home. I was hoping for 10K but it took awhile to sell out the RU allotment of 3K so we won't sniff close to that.

Creep State...

I'm concerned that someone from RU will be assaulted by some KKK jerk, and the cops and creeps will ignore it.

My friends, I hope you don't go.

really? Sleep in the car, find a rest stop or walmart, or a campsite. lack of hotels should not deter you. Lots of RU fans purchased via PSU or from 3rd party sellers, the seats that RU was selling were not ideal which is why they took awhile for them to sell.

I don't know many adults who are willing to do that for a college football game. I might have done in college but not any more.

OK newell138, I hear you loud and clear.

BTW are you going to the game ? If so then please tell us about your travel arrangements. Will you be sleeping in your car after the game ?

I just booked a couple of weeks ago in Harrisburg on the way home for a little over $100

If you want to be close, check out airbnb.com. My friends and I got a 3 br house 15 miles from the stadium for about $180 for the night.

From where? South Jersey? I've done the trip in under 3 hours from central Jersey and that included stopping to pick someone up.

10k booked a room just outside of Danville right off eye 80 2 weeks ago for less than $100. 1 1/2 hits from state college and 3 hours from central jersey.

I booked a party bus for 22 of us. Full tailgate. Leaves NJ at 10am & back immediately after the game . We also have 80 people sitting on the 20 yard line.

I'm surprised you aren't expecting a better turn out. There aren't many hotels in State College but I'm guessing there are quite a few options on VRBO and the like as well as hotel options as you head east.

And then there's the RV lot. That's the best overnight experience at Penn State IMO.

I am guessing in the 6-8 range. Time/hotel hurt but no reason not to stay at a hotel an hour or so on the way back.
Sleep in car? Ha

Wife and I will be there.. Staying overnight in Lewisburg on way back......

Plenty of good hotel rooms in Danville including the Hampton Inn.
