Prediction: Chris Ash and team will be the best recruiters @ RU ever

I hope you've right. I'm getting too old to wait another 5 years for us to be relevant, but I'll concede 2.

yes - hold on to your hats - lots & lots of (good) names are going to be tossed around that have not been heard here before .... some will click.

I agree and get the same feeling. Even though it may take a few years to reach the upper tier of the Big Ten, we are going to see a different team immediately. If Ash can get a couple of play-makers to commit, between that and coaching, we are going to sneak up on some folks next year.

I really can't wait to experience Ash cleaning Franklin's clock both on the field and in the recruiting wars. First order of business is to pass Penn State along the rails.

I am thrilled finally in New Jersey and undivided attention solely on Rutgers.

No, no, no, not possible, we've been told that Ash is a "non-recruiter" by at least 1 poster.

[roll][roll][roll][roll][roll]

That was from the flipping of a statement where UM said something to the effect Ash is a better coach then he is a recruiter. and of course some a$$ here said he can't recruit.
So yes he looks like he can recruit and I hope UM is correct and he is a better coach which will be a Rutgers WIN WIN!![banana][banana][banana][banana]

There is a formula to winning and our staff knows it. Not every team knows how it's done. Meyer, Saban and not too many more. And even if some coaches know what it takes, you don't have a united front trying to execute as a team like we do. There is hope.

Agree with this and the OP. I'm buying what Ash is selling. Some people may like the approach Maryland's new HC took to build his staff and that may work too...there's more than one way to skin a cat. But this is what OUR coach thinks is the best approach for OUR program to be successful so that is all I will focus on. Let Maryland fans talk about Durkin and his triumvirate of former head coaches. I'm tired reading on here about our fans hoping other programs will falter so they come down to our level. Sure that helped us get up from the ashes when Syracuse and BC began to suck but we can't expect that to always happen, especially with OSU and UM in our division because they will NEVER pull a Syracuse or Boston College. They will always be good and when they do experience drop offs as Michigan recently did they won't be down long. We need to build this program to heights it hasn't seen before (Greg's 2006 season came in a mid major football conference) and I think Ash and his crew are the guys (who were realistic for us to hire) who have the best chance to get us there. And while I love GS and all he did for us, that includes him too.

No, it wasn't, it was from a poster who typically makes comments with zero factual information to base them on and, as usual, he couldn't back them up because, well, he was wrong. That being said, YES, good for us taking into the multiple accounts, from both HC's and college football experts, that Ash is a very good recruiter!!

Wait! You are telling us you are not the only poster who makes comments with zero factual information? Who would have guessed?

I am hoping Coach Ash knocks it out of the ballpark with his recruiting. As soon as I saw his interview after accepting the OSU job, he was my Number 1 choice. Hope I was right, but it is still very early.

You find a post I've EVER made stating an opinion as fact, without any attempt whatsoever to back up my comments at the time OR when shown factual information that alludes to the exact opposite, and I'll give you $1.

I'll buy that for a Dollar.

I'll be waiting. Don't get me wrong, either, I've had flat-out OPINIONS that have been flat-out wrong, in the long run, but I make damn sure to not present things that aren't factual, as factual, and that's what we're discussing right now.

It was a joke.[eyeroll] Calm down Nuts I'm not out to get ya. Your new optimistic outlook is refreshing. If you ever watched Robocop or Paul Verhoeven movies you would understand.

This group of coaches is going to be able to do a better job of selling NJ to out of state recruits, particularly those from the midwest. Most of them are from the midwest, with Mehringer from Texas, and Burnham and Henry from Florida. Since they are transplants, and new to the area, they can relate to recruits who may be reluctant to come to NJ. Just reading Blazek's comments in the article below, you can feel how enthusiastic they are about our wonderful state.
So, even if they do not kill it in NJ to begin with, I think they will kill it with recruits from other areas of the country.

“We came out and we loved it,” Blazek said. “You can go 20 minutes and be on the water. You can go 20 minutes and you have cornstalks and it isn’t any different than living in Illinois, Iowa or Kansas. The people are the same, the qualities are the same, and we’re excited to be here.”

I've said this is possible with this group. I think they have the potential to be the best recruiters we've had here save the time we had Hafley/Angelichio. It's possible they could do better than them too but I don't feel as strongly on that. I agree with above that even if they don't do as well in state I think they can do better out of state to make up for it. They have the social media savvy, they're younger, can relate and have some pedigree to sell so I think there's good potential there over previous staffs here.

Mind you I'm bigger on coaching/developing talent over recruiting so I hope they exceed expectations in that department specifically.

I doubt Ash will get any 4stars this class, hired and started too late, plus RU coming off a bad season w bad publicity ,and the entire new staff is fairly unnown to NE 4 stars as far as being well known guys. Next recruiting season will be/should be much much better.
Maryland got a bit of a quicker start with a full staff starting weeks earlier and their Assistants are ex HC's with more name recognition.

dreamteam2017...

:flush:

I'll believe it when I see it.

No one said dream team except you. What I am saying he will bring in the level of recruit, consistently, that no coach has before him. He and his staff are young, energetic, play an aggressive new school style, have won big in a number of cases, and clearly have connections across the country and in the south. That all adds up to one thing - recruiting good players.

If Ash is as good of a head coach as he is a DC, look out. Our program will be brought to heights it hasn't been. Just the way it should be.

But feel free to keep naysaying. It is the only thing you ever do here.

While the staff and the boards have been talking about the Garden fence that same staff is going out into the nether regions of the Midwest and South to hunt and gather in zip codes and area codes we were never in before. I like it...

#1 in the books. So what do you have to say for yourself and how do you like your crow??

if #1 IS Elorm Lumor; crow should be replaced with low hanging fruit at best. I will put on my water wings and follow Ash as he walks on water if he can pull down a Pridgeon, Niang, Jordan Johnson, Fuller or even a wayward Harmon would turn my head. I am happy we have a 4th LB in this class? As Temple was the only school who would touch him due to grades is still a good get for us.
But no way do we start a parade with this.
