Basketball PREVIEW: Rutgers versus Miami

Steve Pikiell on the stretch of three games in six days:

"It's brutal. We have a tough stretch, but that's the schedule that they give us and we're going to go play it. We're playing a Miami team with three pros and then play the No. 1 team in our league in Michigan State, arguably the No. 2 team in our league with Wisconsin, who's playing at a very high level.

"Those are tough games, which is why these guys have to rest their bodies and we need a few days to get our bodies right and our minds right and we'll be prepared. We have a short prep time, so our young guys have to pick up a lot in that time."

I’m looking forward to this game very much. The only good team we have played so far shot “lights out” and would have beaten almost anyone that night.

To me, this game will tell whether it’s the same old Rutgers or whether we perhaps have turned a corner and play a competitive game - even if we don’t necessarily win it.

Also, although basketball matchups are not transitive, it will tell us a little about how we match up with Seton Hall.

I’ve been Rutgers fan for a long time, so I’ve learned to expect the worst and hope for the best, but honestly, Miami showed nothing against Seton Hall that suggests we should not give them a game.
