there are scores of NJ residents with no loyalty to RU or its football program - and who went to other major football schools (particularly some schools you migh say "compete" with RU for recruits and attention) - who are basically of the opinion that RU's football program perhaps should be "blown up" at this point (exact words I've seen from a BC alum). Yesterday, I heard a whiny dude call up Francesa and exasperatingly ask what the B1G can do about RU - which he felt was out of control and an embarrasment to the B1G (clearly an alum of another B1G school - I'd guess, based on my experience, UM or UW based on his whininess). Fortunately, the big kahuna has no love or interest in RU, so he basically blew the guy off - not because he was defending RU, but because he acted like he didn't know the story (feigning disinterest) and didn't want to comment on it (which I was thankful for).

RU fans need to band together in support of the program. If we don't, then nobody will - and there are tons of folks in the tri-state area including within our NJ borders who would love to tear RU football down. Let's stand behind our coach and our players and school during this difficult time and call it for what it is - some bad apples not unlike ANY other large university and football program. We have been fortunate that the bad apples had been very limited in recent years (though they have certainly been there in the past) but now is not the time to provide our enemies with even more ammunition than they already have. Act like this is your family - maybe some tough love is necessary - but defend it vigorously.
