Sen. Diegnan pursues board of governors vote for Rutgers student reps
Though this sounds good on the surface - I am opposed.
Even as a undergrad I didn't get some of my fellow students that felt because they weren't in the driver's seat for all decisions related to the university, they were being sidelined. Of course what this really meant was they didn't want to be told what to do. I figured we just got here, and most would only be here a few years. Maybe someone with a longer range view of things ought to offer some guidance on how to run the place?
I don't know the Senator's intent, but any change to the narrow balance between Alum and State representation on the board worries me. I could see the political factions that have periodically tried to make the University more complaint to the patronage mill and get their fingers into the University's resources would see this as a wedge to get another vote, or two, on the
board to swing their way.
He was "in the mix" for the Norcross machine's theft of RU-Camden which makes me think our first impulse should be to grab our wallets when these guys show up with helpful suggestions.
