PSU beat MD

You guys have GREAT coach.
Man, that phrase just doesn't sound right to me. The terms "PSU" and "winning" in the same sentence bother me no matter what it proves.

Why? You team beat a bunch of very talented freshman and sophomores. You should be happy. You have a good coach. If you hold anything against the players on our basketball team you might just be stupid.

I think it speaks more to the strength of the conference this year-----or frankly the lack of it.

Big Ten is IMO # 5 in terms of strength of conference and it's a distant # 5.

Just a down year this year.

In our games against the top of the league, I have not been impressed. Either game against Wisconsin, @UMD, @MSU, all games we were in until the final minutes. I don't know if we just have been getting better, but then Illinois beats NW and PSU beats UMD so who knows what the deal is. If the league really is this close, let's hope we can get a few more since in theory we should have a shot even if slight in any of them.

I agree with you to some extent. There are no top or elite teams that are guaranteed shots for the Final Four, with a couple, Wisconsin and Purdue with outside chances because of Wisconsin's experience and Purdue's overall well rounded team. However, I am not scared to play either one and do not automatically put it in the loss column this year on a neutral court. However, I can say that about all of college basketball and every conference this year . The middle to the bottom is competing and upsetting the top of each conference.
On the other hand, I believe 1-14 are very close with not a lot of separation . The inconsistency in our conference is happening all over college basketball making this the most unpredictable year ever. The teams that have been a little more consistent have risen to the top of the standings but we are not seeing the consistent blowouts by the top teams over the middle or the bottom of our conference. It truly is a crapshoot every night.

kenpom has us #4, not that far behind #2 ACC

On any given day, this team may just hit those damn free throws. If that happens, who knows?

Any given day...

MD is a bit of an enigma this year. Until PSU, they have been truly amazing on the road, especially considering they start 3 freshmen. On the other hand, they have yet to beat a ranked opponent. Their best wins are probably KSU on a neutral court and @ Michigan, and @ MN. They really need to knock off Wisconsin and Northwestern (2 very tough road games) later next week if they want to stay ranked and be considered a top team in the Big10. Otherwise the top of the league belongs to Wisconsin and Purdue.

Having said that, I'd kill for RU to have MD's success this year with such a young team.

Parity is the word used most frequently to explain upset league wins. Fans ,however, need to look at the big picture which is league rankings and where Rutgers remains at the bottom of the 14 teams.Perception matters in sports particularly in recruiting.Negative recruiting has been effectively used against Rutgers in the past and will in the future until winning seasons and post season tournaments become the norm based on at least 6-7 league wins.
