PSU DC Shoop officially to Tennessee

This will be positive for Rutgers. I expect 1-2 more recruits to de commit. Even the coaches are jumping ship. Just too many changes next year for Penn State to be good. Two new coordinators on the offense and defense. New QB with almost an entire new DL with 2 new DB. A new spread offense and maybe new defense. Fans will said they will be good in 2018-2020 if Franklin is still there.

Apparently Shoop will have to pay his own buyout from psu. That itself tells you how bad he wanted out. The used car salesman's luster is wearing thin after only two years. It might be better for RU if he stays there for a long time.

The BWI board is going beserk. I noticed that a lot of coaches move when their good players leave or graduate. Charlie Strong is just one example that comes to mind. They have a feeling of how the team will do in the future and I guess h was afraid of his own future at Penn State.
I was one year premature in my prediction. Late last season, I predicted that PSU would lose both coordinators, with their OC Donovan getting fired and their DC Shoop leaving for an SEC team (I really thought that Auburn or LSU would snare him).

The worst possible scenario is that James Franklin stocks the cupboard with talent at PSU and then gets canned in the next 1-2 years. PSU won't need to hire a cheerleader at that point in time and can hire a strong Xs and Os guy to take advantage of Jimmy's strong recruiting.
Shoop was the DC who told his secondary they would have 5 INTs vs Nova in 2014. Then they got all five. From that moment on he was my fav coaching candidate. Cant hurt RU that he's gone

2. Go read the Shoop buyout thread on the BWI board and bring your popcorn...PSU fans going after kjb#s (a PSU poster who comes here and a moderator there). I feel a bit bad for him. They are trying, trying to get him to step down as moderator...for not buying the Paterno didn't know story. Cult gonna cult.

That's really a shame. -Whenever kjb#'s has posted here he's seemed like a pretty reasonable guy.
The unfortunate problem for him is he's a moderator on a school message board whose great majority of fans are anything but reasonable. (Or even at times...rational.)

Appreciate you guys thinking of me. I'm a big boy and, to a fault, speak my mind.
I'm a huge PSU fan. Have a degree from there and have had season tickets since 1982.
All I can say is that you guys have a great free board here...don't take it for granted. I was banned here once but whoever runs this place is very, very good at allowing for free discussion and the expression of differing opinions. I have said numerous times that this is my favorite free board on the Rivals network.
FWIW, I still think your Wrestling program is the biggest benefactor of joining the B1G...just too much local talent.
Let's table the sainthood movement for KJB# for now. He may act reasonable here, but he wastes little opportunity to take shots at RU on the Rivals main board (and even quote posts from here in doing it).
That being said, he is normally pretty measured with his comments on PSU matters, which is a rarity for their fanbase regardless of the website.
The word is his wife really liked Tennessee. Also, the writing was/is on the wall that PSU will see a fall off next year (I hope we can pummel them). Shoop had his eyes on a head coach job, and this is a wise move. Make your wife happy, get out of mediocre to bad situation, make some more bucks and go to one of the most storied programs in the nation.

2 good B10 DCs to the SEC in Aranda and Shoop. Good for us on the Shoop front. He to me was Franklin's saving grace at PSU and will the offensive revamp take hold quick enough to compensate for a possible drop in defensive performance?
Kinda strange though that he turned down LSU last year and took Tenn this year. I'd think the LSU offer had to be in the 1M+ range like the Tenn offer. Maybe it is related to Franklin or maybe he sees better prospects in Tenn. Not sure how the recruiting compares on the defense between the 2 schools.
Well just like Aranda at LSU, I think a good performance as DC at Tenn could be his last stop before a 2nd shot at a HC position in the future.
