Purdue sucks

Marshall is loaded w talent. They take props from across the country that couldn't go to P5 schools bc of conference rules against taking such players. There schedule is pretty weak but they can play some football. Always fast and physical.

Marshall would have buried us in Huntington.

I suggest you do a little result next time.o_O

The Herd lose two of the best offensive players in program history. They will take the field without star QB Rakeem Cato and receiver, Tommy Shuler. Cato set almost all of the QB records in his time at Marshall, and even set the new NCAA record for consecutive games with a TD pass. Shuler was at the receiving end of most of those throws.

They have some important losses on defense too. Overall they are a good team, but keep in mind their competition week to week. WKU will be their only real challenge this season and that's at the end of the season. Purdue is just a bad team no matter how you look at it.

I saw the end of the game and couldn't understand the amount of room Purdue's defenders gave Marshall receivers. It was ridiculous. Also the play calling when Purdue had the ball in the last 10 minutes was suspect. Needless to say , I was very unimpressed with their coaching staff.

Purdue has just 1 Div I-A win over the last 2 seasons....I think some HS teams could beat them. That's why some just call them "cash checkers", as all they do is cash their huge Big Ten Paychecks but don't do anything with the $$.

PS. Now that the better teams from CUSA bolted for AAC, Marshall seems to be back in the catbird seat like they were in the MAC.

In regards to Marshall's 13-1 record last year, they avoid (as they did vs Purdue) any tough competition in non-conf play...as just getting wins (vs anyone) gets you noticed.

Another coaching opening in the Big Ten by the end of the year 4-21 so far for Hazell. I see at least this job and Virginia opening up.

Saw that too reminded me of our defensive coordinators scheme's. Said to my wife they must play our type of defense. Huge cushions. At least now we're not the only one in college football that gives so much respect to wide receivers'.

Purdue, Virginia, Illinois and a few others are in a similar situation - they need a dynamic inspirational coach who has the ability to roll up his sleeves and imprint a vision on the team - a guy who got his initial training at a major power university & has proven he can go into a quality institution and be a do-it-all guy & build up the program ... establish a structure and attitude and level of determination that breaks from the past. Having had some NFL experience & having sent players to the NFL might be good too as it would lead high caliber recruits to believe that he would know what it takes to get there & how to prepare.

Know anybody with this kind of background who might be available.. you know... just sort of puttering around doing some commentary... waiting for the right opportunity to pop up?

Interesting tidbit :

"Purdue has produced 23 astronauts, including Gus Grissom, the first vertically launched person to return to space, Neil Armstrong, the first to walk on the moon, andEugene Cernan, the last astronaut to do so.[99] Over one third of all of NASA's manned space missions have had at least one Purdue graduate as a crew member."

They might be putting the money to great use. Saw the following recently ...

"For four consecutive years, Purdue University has managed to freeze tuition rates, establishing the university as a pacesetter in the national drive to make college more accessible and affordable."

Athletic Revenue is almost never ever used in general Univ spending (outside the few P5 teams that earn huge profits from their top football/basketball programs that donate $$ back to the general fund to keep their non-profit status).

I'll repeat a refrain from above. Glass Houses.

This isn't true. Their facilities are more than ample and they are paying Hazel a competitive salary. He deserves one more year.

I thought that was pretty common knowledge - Purdue is like Astronaut U. (At least back in the early days)

Probably a little nepotism explains the unusual concentration of Purdue grads in the space program. Any way for the SL to link this anomaly to Julie?

Good engineering school with a good flight program IIRC. And yeah it's totally Julie and Flood's fault. They probably faked the moon landings.
