I listened to Taylor Zarzour and Greg McElroy on the commute to work this morning. As I was getting to the office they were introducing an ESPN writer, the topic was Texas football. They immediately began by asking the ESPN guy why Texas was only now playing the QB Jerrod Heard - considering how great he looked against Cal. The ESPN guy explained that the other QB had 'won the team' and was better in practice. All 3 of them scoffed at this since it's about winning games, not a popularity contest. Definitely struck a cord with me.
