i have consistently taken a position that for Rutgers to take the next step as a program, the quarterback position must shift from a weakness to a strength. Of course a coach can get lucky and land a Bridgewater and shorten the cycle but I believe when the cupboard is pretty empty, it is a 3-5 year process to stock up the position and let the cream rise to put yourself in position for sustained success. That is what we compete against.
It seemed that Flood had been bringing in one kid with potential after the next. It is still early with Flood's two oldest guys being RS sophs but I had felt good that the quarterback position was heading in the right direction and now it seems this very well may be the case.
Hoping Laviano keeps it up and if Rettig gets his chance that he shines too. Next year, this group could be very interesting with everybody getting older and a young buck in Russo coming in.
Oh, and Flood has done well with RB also and fixed that too. Flood has yet to prove he can build a highly competitive B1G program but there are good signs.
