We're in this position with Lewis, Bowers et al.

While I've never seen either play, I gather from the board posts that Lewis has more following amongst NJ recruits. I don't know if this is true or not. I don't know that bringing in Lewis isn't the start of a building a wall or at least at nasty fence around NJ.

However, in principal I'm AGAINST making such a promise, since Bowers seems ready to commit (????) / Lewis has made no specific date when he will decide. Consider the consequences of Lewis committing to another school/ Bowers being snubbed - and not coming to RU.

If Bowers is ready to commit I feel like we should take him / capitalize on his sphere of influence as well as his talent set.

Hope all turns out alright...but for now, I'm sitting on pins / needles....without novocain.

Makes sense that Lewis would have more of the NJ recruit following since Bowers plays at Bishop McDevitt in Harrisburg, PA...from the recruiting articles I've read and quotes I've seen from Bowers I think it's clear the staff have been honest with him and told him Lewis is #1 on their board and Devitto might be #2, so he should keep his options open but Rutgers is definitely interested if he is willing to wait to see
How things play out...or they could take the Harbaugh approach, take his commit and then tell him he won't have a spot once other guys commit.

Don't want to jinx it but my money is on both. We have tons of ships to give out this year.

Getting enough reps in practice is tough enough with one QB in each class. Signing 2 or 3 in one year makes progress and evaluation a little tougher. You'd think having an honest reputation would help in these situations, but Harbaugh seems to have popped THAT balloon.

Anyone know of any coaches that have suffered from screwing a recruit, vis-vis HS programs shutting them out?

I brought something similar up on the round table this week, comparing our take your time, we'll wait strategy versus what seems to be the new Maryland's staff of closing on kids, with a 4* DT and supposed 4* QB signing on this weekend.
Lewis, from everything I've read, just seems to be waiting for something better to come along, and I believe said he isn't making a decision until summertime. Many people seem to think Bowers is just as good (I have no idea who is better, never seen either of them). I'm interested to see how it plays out.
