You might be interested in this story of renovation on Cooper Street in Camden. This street forms the southern edge of the campus. Rutgers has increasingly been buying and rehabbing buildings there for campus use. For instance, the building to the left of the one being renovated is now the Chancellor's and Provost's office. BTW, the profs who are quoted are hardly shrinking violets about criticizing Rutgers when they think that's due. So this isn't an example of faculty saying what the university wants to hear.
