R.I.P. Mr. Spock

What a sad day. An icon in the world of science fiction has died. RIP Mr Spock. I grew up watching reruns of Star Trek on Channel 9 or 11 on Saturday afternoons. I will also remember him for being the host of In Search Of and for his appearance in as the creepy doc in one of the my all time faves the 78 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Interesting side note - I had read somewhere that he and Tony Randall were considered for each other's roles on Odd Couple and Star Trek. RIP - great voice
it scared the crap out of me as a kid...between his voice and the shots of UFOs, Bigfoots, Yetis, and aliens I had nightmares about that show
Don't forget he also joined the cast of TV's "Mission Impossible."

Every night of my freshman year at Rutgers, at 6pm at Pell Dorm, we would gather in the preceptor's room to watch the nightly re-run of Star Trek on Channel 11. Since everyone in the room had already seen each episode about a bazillion times, the traditional joke would be someone yelling out "I SAW THIS ONE!" as soon as the first frame of the show began.
That year, Gene Roddenberry packed the College Avenue Gym and presented the first pilot, "The Cage," as it was originally shot, and the Star Trek blooper reels along with a Q&A with the audience. The Star Trek "appearances" that later morphed into conventions had begun a couple of years earlier.

Leonard Nimoy Dies at 83
loved that guy. He as a big part of my college years. Most nights at Newell138 we would watch Star Trek and then the Twilight Zone on channel 11. Usually involved a delivery from Fillipos at some point too.
Sheldon Cooper is going to be devastated. That show has lost two of it's iconic off screen voices recently.

Sad that he did not really enjoy being Mr. Spock for so long after the series. Happy that he came to recognize the fan appeal of the character he brought to life before he shuffled off.
