Guys -- just saw this on NJ.com. I called the Piscataway Police Department to confirm it is the same Ray Pilch. Ray and his fellow police officers saved an infant's life yesterday in Piscataway. Fantastic story.

Saw that this am. Absolutely amazing.

I would love to see him honored for this during a game this year. He may feel "it's part of the job" but it' is something that deserves praise. With all of the bad press that cops get, it's refreshing to hear about the incredible things they do.

And as a parent, I can only say "thank you".

And as a Rutgers fan, I can say "I'm proud of you"

Ray hit the longest bomb in a cook league softball game. All with a single wall aluminum bat. It was longer than the jacks I see the juiced up guys with shaved composites hit today.

Yes, that is the same Ray Pilch. I taught him PR-24, defensive tactics and FATS in the police academy. Piscataway sent their recruits to Union County that year. He was in the fall class right after graduating from Rutgers. That was the first question I asked when I saw him. P'way used to pull their kids for traffic details around the stadium on game days. He would be out there on the roads around the Bubble in his traffic vest and khakis. He found me a couple of time on game day, walking around all half in the bag with my family at Kidzone. It made for an odd dynamic in a brief relationship.

Great guy and pretty much what you'd expect from the Pilch family. They are special.

Now that is repping the R in a big way.

Had the pleasure of meeting his family when I attended the end of season banquet his senior season and they happened to be at my table.

Can you guys help me jog my memory? I can't seem to find too much about him online. I believe he was early-Schiano era, but I can't seem to figure out what position he played? I see TE, I see RB, I see FB??

Pilch news from 2004

I've seen his family in the Blue lot more recently since Ray graduated.

I saw Ray at the Piscataway police headquarters about a year ago. I approached him and asked if he was the former RU football player and I think he was pleasantly surprised some random guy knew who he was.. We also both share the PHS to RU connection although im a lot older. Nice guy for sure.
