Recruit visiting this week - Maishe Dailey

Looks solid- from a summer article-also see Maryland is showing interest now

All of this has been an incredible run that has seen Dailey, a 6-foot-6 guard, pick up 12 Division I offers in a 20-day stretch beginning on July 10. The schools include High Point, Robert Morris, Winthrop, Bryant, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Rider, Toledo, Youngstown State, George Mason, Loyola (Ill.) and Delaware.

And that might not be all. Beachwood coach Matt Miller says that he has had discussions with Michigan and Butler about Dailey and that the schools have interest.

He has 12 D1 offers and he is visiting. Why are we recruiting him? Is it because others schools are and that put him on our radar. Are we being proactive or reactive?

FIG...with all due respect, that is a strange reaction. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make?
I have seen his name linked to Rutgers for a long time on Scout and 247. I think he was probably a 2nd tier guy recruit after D. Jenkins and Bashir.

Mid major offers. This is about the best a team can hope to target in the post-fall recruiting pool.

He looks pretty decent to me. I hope we can beat Nebraska tomorrow and have a good turnout from the 1976 team. Those were the days.

If he has mid-major offers and now some big boys are starting to show interest (MD, Wisky, Illinois, Dayton, Purdue, Clemson, Butler and Michigan), it means his stock is rising. Good job by the staff to identify this a while ago and get in on him early.

I have always said recruiting NJ is difficult because local kids probably don't want to go to Rutgers. Guess the date of the last time a NJ player committed to Rutgers.

Didn't Gary Waters get fired essentially because he didn't recruit NJ?

Our staff is putting in the work. They know that Jersey is a futile game so they are opening up other fronts.

Dailey recently picked up a Rutgers offer for 2016.

He is also now receiving interest from Maryland. Wisconsin has been on him for a while. I mentioned Dailey in my B1G early signing period breakdown.

He's considering doing a prep year next season and reclassifying to 2017 where he's being recruited by a number of B1G schools including Illinois, Michigan and Purdue. He says Rutgers is looking at him for 2016.

Thanks Russ. If you were a betting man, do you think he signs somewhere in ''16 or reclassifies as '17 ?

He went through the fall with none of these offers you now hope that he may get. By definition, if any of these major schools give offers, which they haven't yet, it's plan B, or plan C, or worse. The post fall recruiting season shifts isn't often a case of stock rising. Instead, its a case of top schools running out of preferred options.

I think it includes Five things....

1. Stock raising due to very good senior year

2. Those getting their academics in order during their senior year

3. Lower level guys getting a shot at schools looking to fill out their rosters.

4. Guys waiting for spots to open up when players declare early for the draft.

5. Guys reclassifying from 2017 to 2016, sometimes that happens. I don't know how but it does.

Would top schools took any recruit or roll the scholarship over to the next year ? I just don't see the very top schools wasting a roster spot on guys they do not think will help them win in some capacity.

Half the B1G is looking at him, just a bunch as a 2017. Wisconsin is keeping in contact, but their No. 1 priority is getting a point guard.

A Wisconsin source told me that if a big school offered him for 2016 he'd commit and not reclassify to 2017. He believes that if Maryland offered that would be enough.

Russ,

In consecutive recrutimg cycles, Rutgers has offered a recruit only to see them chose prep school instead.

This is a problem for Rutgers, no? They don't have "high major" facilities so kids figure it out eventually.

Odd that has happened in consecutive recruiting cycles but I doubt that a kid's decision to go to Prep School instead of commit to Rutgers is directly related to facilities. It happened to another B1G school in the Spring with an in-state kid at that.

I think that was the Mineland kid if I am not mistaken? I don't think he has committed to any school this season yet either. Verbal commits still has him listed as someone we are considering. I hope that Maishe Dailey would consider us before any school that wants him to go to prep school for a year and not sign him until 2017.

There have been a bunch of predictions over the last few days on 247Sports for Maishe Dailey and Chuba Ohams to Rutgers....would be nice to have some more good news soon on the recruiting front in addition to Jalil Tripp

If 247 is correct, those are 3 very good additions. Also, 247 still has 6'9" shooter/defender Issa Thiam as 100% to Rutgers.

I have no idea if these guys are any good.
Hopefully they are good pieces to give the new coach something to work with.
(Kind of kidding, kind of not)

It sure would be nice to lock up a few more players before long. Hopefully all would be quite decent players too.

What is the likelihood these recruits would stay with Rutgers if Jordan was fired at the end of this season?I'm sure negative recruiting is already happening .

Okay, just a highlight video ... but he looks EXTREMELY unselfish out there, with terrific vision and passing ability. Lefty shoot who seems to square up well on his shot.

Tough to tell just how athletic he is - he looks very athletic, but it looks like he is playing against a fair number of shorter and much less athletic players, so tough to truly gauge.

He looks pretty good. I'm confident that he's going to be a solid player for us. Ricky Shields might be a good point of comparison.

That Wisconsin source was right on the money.

Hudl highlights are brief but this looks like a good get.

Nice length, has a good stroke. Most notable is his unselfishness & heads-up approach on offense. That is refreshing. I hope he can defend.

His body is reminiscent of Dane Miller but his tape actually reminds me a bit of Earl Pettis, whom I was sad to see transfer.
