It's too bad that it is 6:30 in the morning. At a time when more people are on line, this thread would have the potential to be epic.
Just curious. How are they detaining you? Did they take away your car keys, or do they have you locked in a room? What's stopping you from just walking out the door (and the hospital then calling the police and having you arrested for DUI)?

staff members of a hospital would and should be concerned. If there is any question at all, they are going to try to err on the side of caution. I seriously would just let it go or you may find yourself taking that sobriety test.
That's a pretty good clue that you're drunk. If you don't want to sleep it off in the hospital, then call a cab and go home.
Call a cab if you need to go somewhere that badly. Otherwise, cool your jets and take a nap. The staff is doing you a huge favor.

In his now-deleted original post, he indicated that he brought a friend to a local hospital, and that the hospital is not letting either of them leave. He says he is being detained under suspicion of being intoxicated.

i got that part from someone quoting his op.. but why they hell were they there is the question.. as in what stupid drunk thing did his friend do to need to go to the hospital in the first place[laughing]

Never heard of such a thing. Is hospital security keeping you there? Certainly nurses and doctors aren't restraining you.

However, I do not feel intoxicated. I asked for a sobriety test. Being of age, I can legally drive home if I blow under 0.08. However, the hospital staff refused.
