I figured that much, lol.
However, I'm not understanding the problem. If I am indeed legally unimpaired, and since I am not a patient, why wouldn't I be able to leave?
Haha, yeah, I'm going to regret reading this after napping.
Call a cab if you need to go somewhere that badly. Otherwise, cool your jets and take a nap. The staff is doing you a huge favor.Haha, yeah, I'm going to regret reading this after napping.
Basically, I asked if the car I drove would be towed, since I stopped at the ER entrance. They refused to let me leave, since they believed that I was intoxicated.
At this point, I decided to just hand valet the keys to the car.
Hahaha, no, I'm not locked in any room. I could technically leave right now, but the staff has repeatedly threatened both the person I drove and I.
Quite honestly, nothing other than the fact that I can't drive right now is stopping me for being arrested for a DUI.
wth are you doing at a hospital in the first place?
If you realize it is the TOTW, then can I request in the future for you to quote the entire original post so the rest of us can see what was going on? (In the event that the OP decides to remove that post, as happened here.)This is easily the thread of the week.

i got that part from someone quoting his op.. but why they hell were they there is the question.. as in what stupid drunk thing did his friend do to need to go to the hospital in the first place[laughing]In his now-deleted original post, he indicated that he brought a friend to a local hospital, and that the hospital is not letting either of them leave. He says he is being detained under suspicion of being intoxicated.

Upstream, for the win! Thanks. Here's the original post from the Google Cache:
So, long story short, I had to take someone to a hospital in central NJ.
Well, 2 hours later, I am still in this hospital in central NJ. They are letting neither the patient nor I discharge AMA, stating that I, the transporter, am suspected of being intoxicated. However, I do not feel intoxicated. I asked for a sobriety test. Being of age, I can legally drive home if I blow under 0.08. However, the hospital staff refused.
Now, it's 6:20 AM and I'm a feeling a bit testy. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
