Reports That tOSU Just Flipped 5* LB Jones From Maryland

I changed the title to reflect that some are doubting the report, but it has legs. Must be nice having those facilities and that staff. We'll get there in time, but I'm a little jealous for now. And it's weird seeing Greg doing work for someone else.

Another report is that MD's new HC, Durkin, isn't honoring all the schollies Edsel had offered, and that's not going over well. Let's see if this has legs.

Looks like the OL coach they hired from Marlyand is really good. That's great because tOSU needed help on OL.:rolleyes:

I'm gonna guess that Schiano's pedigree, defensive knowledge, and personality had more than a little to do with the flip. Of course anyone on tOSU's staff could have flipped a kid because they're Ohio State, but Schiano was able to land guys at RU when we completely blew chow so there's something to the guy.

They're saying it's coming. The difference about this one is that they weren't saying it earlier. Such is the nature of coaching changes.

In reality, Fickell is a SUPER recruiter and can really spot talent. Case in point: Darron Lee would have never been given a scholarship to OSU if it wasn't for Fickell being behind the kid and talking Urban into it. Fickell a solid defensive coach and a SUPER recruiter who doesn't get the credit he deserve. He relates to young kids very well.

Actually vice versa. The Haskins flip has been coming for weeks now so it's more or less expected, but that wasn't the case here. Deandre was supposedly a solid verbal regardless of any visits he was taking, but I guess something changed his mind.

While Marone didn't get a job this year I think Greg learned a valuable lesson. Marone, who was an only OL coach, still got a couple HC interviews. Once you are in the league, unless you're a superstar coach, you must continue to work every year even if it means takes a slight step back. He waited too long

A year ago, I would have said no. Given the rumblings we are hearing may be a possibility in the next one to two years. Don't know if Schiano being on staff with Sandusky would still be an issue or is that no longer viewed as a concern.

Well from a 5* flipping from the Turtles to the Nuts ( not the areyou variety ) the issue is changed to what Schiano is doing and what he'll be doing in future.

I think Jones flipped because of Greg and Fickell's recruiting ability sealed the deal.
Yes the ex Maryland OL coach Greg Studrawa had a roll in that flip along with Urban closing the deal .

They just put the halo back on Jo Pa's mural. And PSU fans were never bothered much by the whole situation, anyway. They were more concerned about outside perception of Paterno. My guess is any connection to the Sandusky stuff will be ignored or just brushed off.
