PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 5, 2018) – Another piece to the Rutgers wrestling home schedule has been set, as the Scarlet Knights will host in-state foe Rider at the RAC in 2018-19. This will be the first meeting in a dual setting between the two programs since Dec. 8, 2012, when the Scarlet Knights defeated the Broncs, 25-5, at the College Ave. Gym.

Rider finished with a 13-5 dual record and appeared as high as No. 19 in the USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll during the 2017-18 season. The Broncs qualified three student-athletes for 2018 NCAA Championships in Cleveland, as 165-pounder Chad Walsh earned the No. 4 overall seed in his weight class at nationals.

Rider represents another challenging foe added to the RU out-of-conference home slate, as national power Oklahoma State also visits Piscataway next season. In Big Ten Conference action, Rutgers hosts Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska and Wisconsin. The Cowboys, Wolverines, Cornhuskers and Badgers all finished ranked in the final 2017-18 coaches poll.

Fans can purchase season tickets for the 2018-19 season by calling 1-866-445-GORU (4678) or by visiting the new Rutgers Winter Sport Gameday page, which can be found here.

The Scarlet Knights averaged 4,680 fans for their seven matches in 2017-18 and averaged 5,070 for their six home duals at the RAC. In total, 32,764 fans watched Rutgers wrestle in Piscataway, a program record. RU finished within the Top 5 in home attendance for the third-straight season, with only Iowa (8,996), Penn State (7,693) and Ohio State (6,681) drawing more.

Rutgers returns three national qualifiers from this past season after the Scarlet Knights produced their best team finish at the NCAA Championships in 2018, finishing 11th with 42.5 points. The historic result also included the program's first national finalist in Nick Suriano as well as a sixth-place finisher in Scott DelVecchio, as the Scarlet Knights earned multiple All-Americans for the third consecutive year under head coach Scott Goodale.

Three-time All-American Anthony Ashnault also returns to the lineup in 2018-19 after he was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA. In total, six wrestlers with NCAA Championships experience will be available for Goodale next season.
