Just curious because Rutgers touts their nutritional program for athletes. I am amazed that both of them stayed heavy through out the entire season. I assume they individualize their diet programs for different positions or body shapes, but watching clips on R football,I see Lewis lifting very heavy as if he wants to add more bulk and Harper on twitter making huge hamburgers as part of a cooking your own meals segment. any thoughts?

It's his body type and he's only a freshman. It takes a while to transform your body. Also Jonathan Lewis was playing tight end last year, he moves fine for 240 lbs.

All due respect, but you don’t know what you are talking about. Harper looks great, and has lost a couple of inches around the waist.

And you are making this assumption by viewing a 15 second segment of a twitter marketing video?

Now that you mention it, I did think Harper looked more fit and like he’s trimmed down a bit. A couple of times I even mistook him for Baker during the flow of the game, while watching on TV.

Yeah Harper's conditioning is only good enough to score 16 points and play 31 minutes vs iowa deep in the season as a freshman. So poor.

How about you thank the men's basketball conditioning program for having our freshman taking so many minutes and playing at such a high level like you should be doing?

One would think playing and practicing college basketball gets one in pretty Good shape. Harper, and all the others

You people are really a bunch of snowflakes on this forum. In no way was that demeaning the play of those guys. Lat year I told Naz Reid that he was carrying some baby fat he acknowledged it and is playing out of this world as a freshman at LSU. Charles Barkley proved that you can play at a high level and be heavy. And you can be conditioned and be heavy. I just remember last year Matt Bullock could not get his weight down. Even NBA scouts are saying Zion Williamson at 285 lbs would have a hard time with rigors of 82 game schedule in NBA. Harper is one of my favorite players because of his hustle and presence on court if you read my post I was talking about the esteemed nutritional program that Rutgers touts.

Ron Harper will develop and evolve his physical stature of the next theee years. Eugene has evolved physically since his Freshman year, they all do.

Can't speak to what was referenced in the thread but I know when we toured the lockerroom a bunch of the players had specifically labeled meal platters/food in the fridge that were geared to the individual player.

I think I'm most amazed at Doorson's S&C - dude is chiseled this year, and he had lost a lot of tone and put on weight when he was injured. Looking forward to seeing that same S&C development over time with Mathis, McConnell, Harper, and Johnson.

And he can sky for them oooops

Harper is still growing (allegedly). It has been conjecture that he'll end up being 6'-10" (my hyperbole). If true, he'll be better than Ben Simmons. (hypothetical personal opinion based on a future hyperbolic potential fact).

Yesterday was the first Rutgers bball game I watched this season and that was the first thing that stood out to me. Maybe it was the old school short shorts (when did they come back in style?), but the entire team looked really out of shape like a 40 and over rec league team. Just an observation as it doesn't appear to have a huge impact, but a little odd considering most college bball players are pretty ripped just based on age and activity level.

Here’s to hoping that is also the last game you watch all season if your observations are gonna be that bad

Yesterday's game was electric and looked like a good tourney game to anyone with a pair of eyes. We took the #21 team in the nation down to the wire with outstanding defensive effort and should have won had it not been for poor officiating. Yeah..whole lot of 40 and over rec teams look like that. Pathetic post.

What a moron. If you couldn’t see the impressive defensive effort (they busted their asses yesterday... maybe their their best physical effort of the season), then you’re powers of observation suck. Out of shape my ass.

Never said you didn’t like Harper.

What I said was you don’t know what you are talking about, because it is noticeable that Harper has trimmed down already. Then I asked if you are making your assumption based on a 15 second segment in a twitter video? Well, are you?

And did you know that it is OK to eat hamburgers if it’s a part of a healthy nutritional diet designed for athletic performance?

Talk about snowflakes. Lol.

this topic brought up a long ago memory, when RU was playing Texas, I think it was, in a quarter final NIT game

texas starting two guards......one was a obviously fat short guy, the other not much taller and not physically imposing at all......I think it was Hollis Copeland who looked at the heavy guy and thought, I'm going to own this guy

well, these two guards would fast break after a rebound like nobodies business....RU, the team previously known for the run and gun, was
constantly beaten down the floor, for easy texas points, and we lost......maybe these two
cheated early on the breaks, gambling their big guys would haul down the rebound, but they
certainly did not look out of shape.

Take a lap and don’t ever post on this or any website again. When you are done with your lap, take another lap.

Jim Krivacs. He was an all American

Ron Baxter is the guy you were referring to. Out of shape, but a real, real good basketball player. Krivacs was the guard who was excellent and later became a big time player agent.

Best of Luck,
Groz

yes, I had behind the backboard seats, and I just remember the two of them running like race horses down the court....they got us good that day

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool then to speak out and remove all doubt.

Yup. This is why we root for college sports. Not necessarily the one and dones, but guys like Shaq. And he’s just a great dude too. Had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times.

Yes, that was at MSG in the NIT Final 4. Damn Krivacs, but at least we won the third place game against Georgetown.

Wow, really touched a nerve...team played great, can be even better with some better strength and conditioning. Not sure what's so hard to understand...

Just that you opinion that the entire team looked out of shape like a 40 and over rec team is ridiculous

Some have thought Harper needs work, which I don’t agree with either, but no one else has been questioned

Bottom line, if the team was not in shape they would fade late which they don’t. So you are not correct here

Guess you think the team doesn't do much of any strength and conditioning work. Can you confirm that? Or are you simply running open?
