RU + 1.5 vs. Wisconsin

Gotta beat these teams when they're down, and Wisky is definitely down.

If we can figure out how to neutralize Happ and then actually make out FTs we’ll have a chance.

This game could be be very ugly. I expect a low-scoring rock fight and I think we (hopefully) pull this one out.

Our FG PCT is last in the B1G and their FG PCT defense is last in the B1G.

We are 13th in scoring offense and they are 14th (last).

As others have said, I think our defense on Happ or the ability to get him in foul trouble will be key. He can't shoot free throws and we have 15 fouls to use on him (Doucoure, Doorson, and Sa.)

This game has a chance to make our eyes bleed.

Gotta find a way to win .. badly. Hope the boys rebound and play solid D tonight. If they do those two then shooting a respectable Free Throw % .. I can see a win. But have to rebound and have spectacular defensive effort first. We're not going to shoot our way to any wins this season.

Wisconsin offensively is one dimensional at this time with some critical injuries that are holding them back. Need 2 Bigs on Happ at all times. At times during their Indiana game this week, they were playing with Happ, 2 true freshmen and 2 walk-ons. Rutgers has a shot here but it most play great defense against Happ and if Davison, Ford or even Reuvers is shooting lights out, so be it.

I don't like getting in to the bonus early and watch guards make FTs......however fouling Happ means Wisconsin only gets 1.12 points for that possession. he is a 56% FT shooter.

I am NOT advocating on purpose.

I hate the 15 fouls with 3 centers line, but maybe not tonight.

Let's be honest here. None of us know nor can predict which RU team will show up. If we shoot the ball the way we did against the Hall we can beat Wiscy by double digits. In the other hand, we all know what the other scenario could be. I will not be shocked at either outcome simply because this team, IMO, is capable of winning or losing by double digits.

I'm shocked the spread is that low, to be honest. I'd have thought Wisconsin -5.

Hey guys, Badger fan here. UW has been besieged by the injury bug, losing starting point guard Trice (expected back sometime this season) and key reserve guard/forward King (for the season). Pritzl had been playing more than 30 minutes a game before going down in practice before the game on Tuesday - that's 3 guards missing (though Pritzl might be back tonight). Also, the bigs that everyone expected to contribute this year after graduating 4 starters have not stepped up at all, therefore they had to burn Reuvers' redshirt. Reuvers is active big, but he is not strong enough to go up against the older players in the league yet. We had 45 minutes split between Schlundt and Moesch on Tuesday, and they don't even check into the game until mop-up time, if at all.

This is the worst UW team in 25 years. I am not expecting UW to win tonight.

I was at that game and they were missing Kaminsky due to concussion protocol, then their incredible guard went down (right in front of us) with an ankle injury ten minutes into the game, and we played well enough to win. Was exciting no matter how you slice it. We don't get many opportunities to beat historically good teams since they have to be down enough to be on our level, and this season in the B1G some teams are uncharacteristically down.

My Vegas guy has Rutgers +2.5 as one of his locks of the night. I was surprised to see that.

I wouldn't call Jimmie Jackson's son incredible. They ended up doing OK without him.

what does that say for Indiana?

My view on the Hoosiers is Crean's players haven't bought into Archie's way. Crean always rewarded his best offensive players with playing time, which led to de-emphasizing defensive skill development. I think they're actually pretty talented, and therefore they have the ability to rise up and play well from time to time (see Duke game), but overall, the culture that Archie wants has not been understood or fully embraced by the holdovers. Right now, they're mentally soft and ripe for the picking. That could change, though

Highly touted at the time, and quick. Ran the offense well and was a matchup problem for us. When he went down the game slowed down for us, and without Kaminsky they couldn't run their usual sets. I didn't follow him after that, but he was good.

Is Gard the right guy or is he a bridge?
Not an unreasonable question, but most of us like him. Outside of Happ, there isn't much experience with this club, which is very abnormal. Even when the team turned over from the Kaminsky/Dekker years, Koenig & Hayes had played significant minutes, and the transition was relatively smooth. not this year, though the frosh look pretty good, so the future should still be relatively bright. We did lose a major recruit for next year who had committed to UW and switched to Kentucky. That hurt and has a few people wondering about Gard's recruiting abilities. But overall, he's a Wisconsin born & bred guy, which is a strong preference in all 3 of our major sports (hockey is considered a revenue sport at UW). The football program is led by a guy who grew up within walking distance of the stadium, played for the Badgers, and both coordinators are former players, too (the only other school that can say that is Air Force). The hockey program is coached by longtime NHL'er and Badger legend Tony Granato.
