New Monmouth.Wow is right. This place was all but closed 2 yeas ago. Now they are making waves in both basketball and with this hire football. Looks like some scholarship athletes will be on their way to Belford....
Some say they are there already in one sport. How soon before we start seeing NYC kids playing at Mater Dei?
New Monmouth.
Some say they are there already in one sport.
Middletown South should be concernedRed Bank Catholic and St John Vianney may have another 'recruiting' presence to contend with in Monmouth County.
Paramus C, DePaul and Pope John joined the wars a few years ago in N NJ to keep up with Bosco, St Joes, Bergen C and St Peters Prep.
Delbarton and SHP not sure if they are all in on recruiting or not. Same with Immaculata.
In S NJ, St Augustine recently went to the 'high profile sports' model to raise it's overall profile. Holy Cross , Holy Spirit and Camden Catholic are it's competitors down in S NJ.
The Preps eg Blair, St Benedicts, Hun, Peddie, etc not in the NJSIAA and play in separate Prep conferences.
Middletown is more confusing than Wall Township with all of those sections. There's West Keansburg, Belford, New Monmouth, Port Monmouth, Navesink, Old Village, Lincroft, River Plaza (Red Bank zip), Leonardo, and Brevent Park. Maybe missed a few.New Monmouth.
West Keansburg is part of Hazlet, you must mean East Keansburg which had a name change to North Middletown.Middletown is more confusing than Wall Township with all of those sections. You are correct--it is confusing. I somewhat went by the fire stations- could also throw in Chapel Hill and Oak Hill, and Middletown also has a section near Hartshorne that uses an Atlantic Highlands zip code.West Keansburg is part of Hazlet, you must mean East Keansburg which had a name change to North Middletown.
I think the smaller publics in the area should be more concerned for FB, not so much the bigger ones.Middletown South should be concerned
I guess I never really thought of how confusing it could be since it was all I knew growing up, but you're right. My dad is a lifetime member of Old Village FD -- even crossed paths with Brian Williams for a small bit back in the day when he was also at Old Village. You are correct--it is confusing. Are we REALLY sure Brian Williams was at Old Village? :rolleyes:I guess I never really thought of how confusing it could be since it was all I knew growing up, but you're right. Funny you should say that. When the Brian Williams news stories were at their peak, my dad got a call from The Daily News (I think it was them) asking him to confirm that Williams was in fact a volunteer firefighter. Turns out they called everyone at Old Village who was there at the same time. Are we REALLY sure Brian Williams was at Old Village?
Poor Brian. There was some story about him thwarting a robbery in Red Bank back when he was a young lad that as also called into question when all of the questions about his stories came up.

Wait a second...ur not sure if seton hall is all in on recruiting??? You do know who their HC is right?!
They can call it North Middletown all they want, to anybody who grew up in East Keansburg, like myself, it is and always will be EAST KEANSBURG.West Keansburg is part of Hazlet, you must mean East Keansburg which had a name change to North Middletown.
Middletown South should be concerned
South should not be concerned. 25 years of elite status does not go away because of a minor flare up across town. RBC has been sending kids to D1 for years and they have not been so much as a speed bump for South.
You left our Rumson Fair Haven, the new big "Dog" in the area.Agree. Mater Dei has little history of success and minimal facilities. Where will they get the funds to compete in a facilities arm race against the power schools in Monmouth County ? I lived in Middletown for many years and Mater Dei is the ultimate underdog as a FB school. They are small time and almost shut their doors last year as a school. Dino better be prepared to recruit some big time players there if he wants to compete with established programs like Red Bank Catholic, St John Vianney, Middletown South and the other power schools.
Having said that if he does make Mater Dei a competitive FB program it will be quite a feather in his cap. I am rooting for him but will be surprised if he pulls it off.

Knight Shift,
A thousand pardons for omitting the Rumson Fair Haven Bulldogs as one of the power elite in Monmouth County Football. They certainly had a great season and almost took down Vianney and Shore in their quest for a perfect 2015 season.
The F ones might. ;)No pardons needed, but RFH has won three consecutive state titles. RFH has also won four sectional championships in the last six seasons and been in a sectional championship game five times during that span. They are rolling, and they should be reloaded next year. Don't see many RFH kids going to Mater Dei.
Wouldn't they more likely go to RBC?The F ones might. ;)
As I said before/above the ones to be worried are the smaller public's close by.
That would be the R ones we want.:sunglasses:Wouldn't they more likely go to RBC?
I have a friend whose son is a rising sophomore who by all appearances is going to be fantastic at RFH. He was brought up from the freshman team to the varsity team for a couple of games. That would be the R ones we want.:sunglasses:
