Final week of the regular season and RU is back up to #4 nationally in the polls. Army with their blowout win over Cornell jumped all the way to #5. Take care of business vs PSU on Senior Day.

Best summary was from US Lacrosse:

"To this point Maryland is a clear-cut No. 1, the last undefeated team in Division 1. The next tier of teams - Georgetown, Princeton, Rutgers and probably Virginia - have accounted for eight losses. Three came against Maryland, and two more came in games against each other.

And from there? Good luck sorting out the next 10-12 teams, especially after a weekend of romps narrowed the gap. "

It's clear that the 2nd tier of teams is RU, Princeton, Georgetown, and UVA.

Virginia does not belong in that group. 23-12 disqualifies them. Of course any excuse to keep the ACC I in the conversation.

Not sure why GTown is ahead of us. We have the same mutual loss and both beat Hopkins. Our wins over Army and OSU are more impressive than GT’s over ND & Penn. overall they’ve played a weaker schedule.

Hope we draw them in the Final Four.

I love how Quint and many others are now upset and questioning the RPI. When we were always on the bubble they all had the opposite take.

I’m gonna get a live look at Georgetown tomorrow night in DC. I haven’t watched them all year so it will be good to see it firsthand.

Look, we beat PSU and we are in a very good position. No matter Quints new gripe about RPI, it’s pretty much the main tool they lean on to place and seed...it does have flaws (mainly seems to ignore H2H when all else is similar)

Beat PSU, have teams like Army, Princeton, Loyola, and OSU win the next ten days leading up to conf tourneys and we will have a very strong RPI position.

We can chat about this stuff 😉

It’s the teams job to stay focused on PSU...and I know they are

Watched the UM game again last night. We had our issues early in Q4 (mainly driven by face off disparity) but UM did NOT score again after the 6:30 mark in the 4th...that’s a defense and a goalie saying “ok, enough is enough”

I talked with JJF, Franko, and 44 after the game and they said they huddled up with a minute to go and said they’re not scoring, time to close the door.

I of course told em it would have saved my heart if they had not let it get to that point 🤣

Beat PSU. That’s it, that’s all

Rutgers is now #5 in the RPI. The screwy one in the RPI is Penn at #4 with a 5-4 record.
Looking at the potential seedings, does Rutgers want a 4, 5, or 8 and be in the same half as Maryland but play the QTR in Hempstead or a 2,3,6,7 and be in the opposite half from Maryland but play the Qtr in Columbus.

Love to get your impressions of Owen McElroy. Bergen County kid who prepped a couple of years at Avon Old Farms before Georgetown. Heard out of the crease he's the only D1 goalie who rivals Kirst for mobility.

I think it is 2 separate questions…4 or a 5 vs 2,3,6,7 or 8 vs 2,3,6,7. Not awful to be 4,5 and play closer to home and play MD in national semifinal. 8 on the other hand and we get them in the quarters.

If we beat PSU and make it to the B1G finals, I think we end up the 3 seed. I think GT is a paper tiger and I won’t be surprised if they lose to Loyola and/or Nova. Can also see them losing in the BE tourney. Otherwise if GT wins out I think we will be the 4 seed.

Either way would be good. As noted, as long as we are not the 8 seed we can avoid facing UMD until at least the semis. Would love to get another crack at Princeton along the way. That was our worst game of the season and their goalie played out of his mind. Don’t think we’ll see a repeat of both situations.

And Quint, you dolt, sports betting is legal in New Jersey, but you can't bet on in-state college teams. And his rating of Notre Dame is Manson cultlike worship.

You can make a legitimate case for any 3,4,5 iteration of those three teams, but I don't think Georgetown is a paper tiger. Ask Penn, Notre Dame and most recently Denver (who played them at home).

I hope we get to face them. I like our chances.

Does anyone know if RU clinched a bye in the big ten tournament yet? Not sure what the tie breakers are.

Been a great year so far. Now we need take that next step like we did at the end of the year last season.

We lost to UNC, but that was the best game we played all year. We need to get there again. We still haven't reached our zenith and we are a deeper with more guys that can hurt you.

How about Maryland- Rutgers on Memorial Day! I'm up for that!

FOGO is the issue. Lets go with a different face off guy after each goal. Rotate our top 3 so the opponents guy gets a different look each time they set up. Why not?

Gotta play a hot hand if you get it. Dugenio v OSU’s guy was that. And he is one of the best in the country. Faceoffs are all matchups.

On a macro level we need Army to keep winning. They are really helping our RPI now with that demolishing of Cornell.

We are clearly playing for seedlings now. Maybe Denver helps us out with Georgetown or even Loyola tomorrow. Princeton could easily lose in the playoffs.

Because you eliminate the possibility of any of them getting into a zone. Know this one from actual experience. A bad move.
