RU Players visit P-Way middle school

Thanks for posting this, SRRU. If a solid academic foundation and the importance of academics isn't conveyed early on, it's really an uphill battle for kids. The more this can be reinforced the better. And I think many kids often listen to players and coaches more than they listen to others.

Good stuff. I went to Conackamack Middle School, which is one of the three middle schools in Piscataway. While at RU I subbed at Schor, and as with all middle schools, the kids are maniacs. I sometimes miss those days, being a former maniac and then getting the payback when subbing for them. Glad the athletes are getting a chance to hang with the kids and make an impression on some of them.

I work at Schor. Believe it or not, our current 6th graders aren't maniacs at all. Honestly a great collection of kids.
The assembly was really well done. The Pway head coach was there to speak as well and told the kids that the best practice battles he's ever seen were between Malcolm Jenkins and Kyle Wilson, and look where they ended up.
The players were very honest and at least 2 of them freely admitted that they didn't like school and it took them years to figure out that hard work was the only way through.
And as I stated in the other thread, Hamilton is freaking huge.

I meant it in a good way. ;-)

I know you did. And I agree almost every year, but for once we have a whole grade of really nice, calm, happy kids.

I'm a Theodore Schor alum - no one famous visited when I was there - it was only full of infamous types - lol. Glad to hear there are good kids there now. Also great to see these guys reaching out honestly and as upstanding examples during key formative years for these kids.

Great way to get these future stars to get excited about Rutgers. I think there should be a Rutgers Day for middle schoolers and a game day for them.

That sucks. Kids are supposed to be maniacal little beasties. What are they putting the water over there?
That was my exact first thought, which means what we both think it means--the principal and school psychologist have been "visiting" the town's water treatment facility.
