With RU Running game and NJ Recruits, how about Mike Leach for Head Coach?

His QB choices and offensive schemes put up points. Imagine a Mike Leach team with Rutgers existing quality running game and a defensive line.

Your thought?

why not? he knows the game and seems to adapt to different teams and adjust on the fly better than what we have. but he is not going anywhere.. right?

Didn't he already burn his bridges with NJ players? Gotta say, they're looking impressive after a shaky start...they almost lost to us. That would've been a travesty.

I always enjoyed Mike Leach , either coaching , on Sirius Sattelite radio CFB show, or his interesting book. The dude never played the game, but loved watching and decided to give up his career in Law , yes, he's a lawyer, and start from scratch and become a football coach.

What he's done at both Texas Tech and Wash St is pretty impressive.

The Problem is he currently makes about 2.75 million and I'm guessing he's going to get a raise and extension after this season, unless he bolts for greener pastures (and Piscataway doesn't fall into that category, I'm sorry to say)

He is a very smart guy - but considering all of the factors in the RU environment, he would not be an ideal choice - he is not amused by the media & does not suffer fools well -

he would be raw meat in the water for the media sharks -
he would be vilified as the second coming of Mike Rice - he would be the subject of something like a vitriolic 7-part interview with Craig James ... and endless sensationalist headlines

Read a lot about him....the guts to walk away from law to
follow the coaching dream and the path to success was
very impressive...

That said I don't think he fits here...wound too tight and our
over zealous PC crap would bury him if he had anything like another James issue (which was a joke I blame Craig and his spoiled kid for)...

Why would he want to coach here?
That is the real question. Why would he leave WSU for Rutgers? He is a very good coach, though. Seems to win with whatever players he has. Great developer of talent. Particularly QBs.
