Just wanted to say that even though I have not personally had the opportunity to visit the Shore Tour that the Athletic Dept. has been running throughout the NJ boardwalks this summer, I think the effort in just being there for NJ families/friends to see and making RU's presence known along the boardwalks is really great to see. I see the RU Athletics and Scarlet Knight's twitter pages posting pics with all the RU fans (and just regular New Jerseyans) and it just feels good to know there is a concerted effort to increase RU's visibility along the heavily visited boardwalks during the summer. Kudos to the Fan Advisory board for throwing out the idea and I look forward to seeing the Shore Tour continue every summer.

Even before this, you couldn't go five minutes in Ocean County without seeing the "R" on a car or someone wearing something Rutgers. I never drive more than five minutes without seeing a car with the "R"---a half dozen within 20 minutes. Same thing when I am in the Howell-Freehold area in Monmouth County. Getting on the boardwalks reaches people from all 21 counties--it was a GREAT idea. can't wait to hear about the upcoming announcement from Geoff Brown.

I just returned from the beach in Manasquan. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary but they may be further down or it's just the wrong time.

Agree. The visibility and PR from this is great! It takes years of doing small things like this to make the kids and parents of NJ accept RU as THEIR state university.

Can someone who is on the fan committee relay this suggestion to tack onto the Scarlet tour....

The first game is Saturday, September 5. Sometime that lead-up week (or the weekend before) have the Scarlet Knight and cheerleaders, band, etc. on a boat going up the shoreline off the beaches with Rutgers flags and signs promoting the upcoming football season. It would be very cool to have the band play "On The Banks of the Old Raritan" a few times beyond the surf before moving to the next beach. A fun promo and a fun time for those on the boat!

ScarletKid,
We should have been doing things like this as soon as we had the undefeated basketball and football seasons in 1976.So many mistakes by the administrations. So many bad decisions.--- I can only imagine what New Jersey and Rutgers sports relationship would be like if we had been able to keep both programs even close to those levels.

Source,
Terrific idea. Would love to see something mentioned on the Atlantic City Expressway,Garden State Parkway, and New Jersey Turnpike electric signs as long as there are no emergency situations where they are needed. We can't have the Louisville game be a one-time reason.

Was leaving the beach at Belmar at 2pm. The Knight and the cheerleaders were walking along the boardwalk handing out T-shirts, R magnets and inflatable footballs to the kids and taking lots of pictures.

Great to hear @redlinehw. Sometimes a grassroots mentality like the Shore Tour can turn into some massive summer long event(s) years from now if RU continues to do it the right way.

The people who run the arcades should have Rutgers related T-Shirts or other prizes in those claw machines and on the walls as prizes. I've seen Yankee and Mets shirts in those machines so Rutgers should be there too. Some Rutgers plush (stuffed dolls) should also be a must have for prizes at arcades in Point Pleasant, Manasquan, Seaside, Atlantic City, Wildwood, etc.

Went to the nighttime "event" in Ocean City. There were 4 students from the RU band, 1 field hockey player, and a table with car magnets, schedules, and kids blow-up RU soccer balls and footballs. Of course, the Knight was there too. 10 minutes in, we left.
