RU vs Maryland 12/5 game thread

Like the lineups Tim has used so far. Had the necessary size in the game at the same time. Osh, Tyia, and Sakima.

Offensively, he needs to let Lasha and Shug be more aggressive in the halfcourt sets.

Sidibe is out of control. I would have pulled her after the second miscue. She looks a bit rattled by Md. Tim's getting away from the players that have kept the game tight.

This offense sucks. Too much playing around out high with no purpose. Wrong people in the game. It's not time for Destiny to be in.

Bad live ball turnovers.
Poor rebounding.
Shot clock violations.
Sorry crazee but you are crazy.
A 25 point loss on the way.

And that basket was made i think after clock hit zero. Might be 15 points.

If they believe it, they can do it. That's if Tim will just play the right people. He did well for the first quarter. Not so much in the 2nd. Played Destiny, Sidibe, and Tiya too long while keeping Lasha and Sakima out too long.

The analysts are talking about the foul shooting disparity. Tim has to let Lasha and Shug be aggressive and they will get to the line and maybe put somebody in foul trouble. The bigs have to pump fake more to get the calls also.

1st half stats.

Sakima's shots inside haven't fallen but she looks good. She needs to get Tiya's minutes and more. Should play at least 25 minutes a game.

There's the answer. For Tyia, she needs to look to draw fouls because she generally hits foul shots. That can help her shooting confidence from the field.

Please Tim. Stick with these core players. If anybody comes in at this point, let it be Sakima for Tiya. Keep splitting between Lasha, Sayawni, and Jailyn. Sanderlin if needed for extra ball handling.

We've got no size in the game right now. They are about to double this 10 point lead if Tim doesn't get either Tiya or Sakima in the game.

Valiant effort by our Scarlet Knights. Definitely, progress from the Paradise Jam. The more Tim sticks with his best, the better our chances.

Agree. I was at the Paradise Jam and this was a big improvement. More energy and better ball movement. Still too many turnovers with too many lazy passes. If they continue with this trend, I can see them winning some games in the B1G.

A really positive takeaway from today's game was the offense's adjustment to stop playing around out up high and to start attacking to score. Players cutting to the basket to get layups. A gem of a game by Dickson, orchestrating everything almost flawlessly. Tim's gotta figure out a way to be more aggressive earlier in the shot clock. Offensive sets develop so slowly, we end up turning it over before we ever even looked at the basket.

One thing I think Tim may be undervaluing would be the positive impact that Sakima brings when inserted into the lineup. Her length may not block every shot, but it often alters or bothers them in deep around the basket. I thought her presence along with Tiya and Osh allowed us to have the rebounding edge and keep the scoring close. Md was getting one shot per trip in that 1st quarter. Tim went away from it for the rest of the game.

When he came with Sidibe and then Destiny, we lost ground. No way those two can handle the height of Bibby, Collins, and Reese. That was probably why Sidibe was so antsy today. And I know Destiny scored a lot of points at her former school, but she has to shoot a better percentage if she's going to be so quick to shoot when she gets in. She brings toughness but hurt us today with some poor shot attempts at crucial moments of the game.

I really think Sakima is closer than any of our posts to being a double digit scorer every game. Her misses, IMO, are from bench rust. The more she plays, the less surprising it will be to her that she is actually getting shot opportunities, and they will start to fall.

Tiya was terrific on the boards today and played solid defense for the most part. The footwork is still problematic though. The turnovers are tough when playing from behind. She has got to get someone to help her with that footwork before or after practice.

Saw the first quarter … have some skills with the starters.

I like what Tim had to say in his post game interview. Hopefully, he continues to let them get even more shooting reps in practice and doesn't wear out their legs the day before or day of the games. Announcers said RU had a 7:30am film study followed by an hour and a half shootaround this morning before the 2pm game. That's not too bad, if they are just shooting and not running around too much.

Gotta be careful that he doesn't fatigue the legs on game days. With the three days of practice before Thursdays game, If he's gonna go hard on them, I hope he does so tomorrow, medium strength on Tues, and light on Wed. with heavy dose of shooting practice.

And most importantly, I hope Tim looks closely at his substitution patterns and their effects on the way the games are playing out.
