Rutgers 2* rivals recruits are very good

Anthony RUsso
Damon Hayes
Elijah Johnson
Justin Morgan
Alex Barbir

Anthony RUsso is an Elite 11 QB that led his team to a State Championship as a Junior and Alex Barbir is considered by many kicking experts to be one of the top 10 Kickers in the country.

This is worth the scholie. I'm surprised these guys aren't offered by more P5 schools and given more stars by the recruiting organizations.

Last year, Rivals had
0 5* Kickers
0 4* Kickers
5 3* Kickers

The best Kicker in the entire country was only given 3* last year.

Alex Barbir deserves atleast 3* in my opinion and so do the rest of
Rutgers 2* rivals recruits. Each of them has the potential to start.

Star have to do with pro potential. It is very difficult for a kicker to make it to the NFL. Most play in the pros for 10, 15, sometimes 20 years.

I think kickers have the most visible position in football. Many others have ample time to make great plays that can help cover up some bad ones, kickers are under the microscope every time they go on the field and what they do is often critical to the outcome of the game.
Think of it this way, what other position has a situation where you are expected to be PERFECT every time you are asked to do it? I am talking about kicking extra points.
"Short" FG's are often referred to as about the same as a extra point and when they are missed (keep in mind that it takes the whole team to make sure he even has a fair opportunity to kick it), he is essentially thought of in a negative manner.
All this is happening when you sit on the bench for almost the entire game and then are sent in cold.
No wonder they talk about the mental part of kicking so much.

As a Junior last year, Alex Barbir made 6 of 8 FG's with a long of 56 yards.
Alex also made 42 of 43 XP's and got touchbacks on about 80% of his kickoffs.

Elijah Johnson received 9 committable offers from Power 5 programs before he committed to Rutgers. Elijah has quick feet for such a big young man and he is a very hard worker.

Why on earth would a site that's focused on College Football recruiting use a ranking system that's based on anything other than projected college football potential?
Makes non sense whatsoever.

Agreed. I would much rather see us have a B1G championship contending program with a roster that had zero players go on to the NFL than a program of future NFL players that doesn't rise above 4-4 in conference.

I know Jarrod Hewitt is a low 3 star according to rivals but when I look at his tapes I just can't believe how quick he is for his size. I predict he is going to be a major player for RU in a few years.

Seems like Hewitt is a beast in the weight room... I saw that video of him squatting 545lbs ! I love these types of kids who love to be in the weight room. I love them because when you get a bunch of these types on your team then it brings up the level of effort and work OF THE ENTIRE TEAM in the weight room. Everyone else feeds of those core guys who are going hard every lift and excited to be there and having fun with the whole thing.
