Link below. I'm a big fan of up tempo.

1. Eddie Jordan and his assistants Greg "Shoes" Vetrone, Van Macon and Dalip Bhatia were extremely active in July.

2. The staff has more high caliber players in the recruiting mix than Rutgers has ever had. . Hopefully, the hard work this staff has put in will pay off in a major way.

3. It's obvious Jordan and staff had a specific plan for July and executed it well. They have a clear vision for their team and have targeted versatile, athletic players who flourish in an up tempo pace.

This is a big 4 months for this program

I have maintained this with Kevin Bannon, Gary Waters, Fred Hill, and then Mike Rice...and now Eddie Jordan

1.) that you get a "honeymoon" period to recruit in your first two classes....and you build your nucleus.

2.) However, after that, you need to add pieces to that nucleus in years 3 and 4 to upgrade the weakness on your initial nucleus. Those first two classes often are out together in haste and new coaches don't get to see the kids grow up in the whole process

3.) in our last four coaches for EJ...we just did not add to the nucleus. Kevin ran his nucleus off and the word on the street was out. Gary got FIG...and that just wasn't enough. Fred was close...his third class was miller and esch...but then the players starting running out of town fast. Rice just recruited very little after his first class

Eddie is really in the game this summer...adding those upgrade pieces where we are weakest in the nucleus could yield the dividends in year 4 and 5 when we will be closer to getting over the hump

We have a nucleus

2016-2017 roster

Pg. Sanders (soph)/Johnson (jr)
SG. Williams (jr)/Goode (soph)
Sf. Freeman (sr)/Laurent (soph)
pf. Foreman (jr)
C. Doorson (jr)/Diallo (so)

That's not a bad team...need to upgrade a couple of spots on the floor

Shooting guard...Parker
Power forward
Maybe another small forward

You need 3-4 consecutive good recruiting classes to rebuild. We don't need a bunch of five stars players, just quality players sprinkled in with a Corey Sanders or two. Yes I know Sanders hasn't played yet.
Btw, I agreed with everything here

Freeman is not a 3.

Foreman has a better chance to see time there

BK...any insight on Rutgers targeting a stretch 4, possibly from overseas? I know those guys are hard to get. I would love a 6' 10 guy that can step out and hit shots to help spread the floor.

My dream class is an athletic SG (parker), athletic swing man (jenkins), the 6' 9 Jersey kid from St. Ants (Taurean ?) and a stretch 4. That's a complete team.

if freemen and foreman are both power forwards and can't really play on the floor at the same time for extended ...then it ch ages the priority to the class of 2016 to getting a shooting guard and small forward.

I was under the impression that we were going to try freeman at the three spot. Foreman is a four man...not enough outside game for the three spot

Means getting Parker and sanders teammate big pieces of the long term puzzle

I think when we went after that russian kid that was our chance at going overseas. Stretch 4's are stretch 4's Can't find them all over the place. If you have a four who could hit a jumper, just put him a couple feet back and have him hit a 3.

I think well see foreman at the 3 this year or a 3 guard set. Laurent is going to be a player here, but he hasn't played a d1 game yet. That would make for a bigger lineup with 3-4-5 being 6 7 plus.

I hope to see some more up tempo, but it has to be in balance. Up tempo with a young team could be asking for disaster. Even watching golden state some games last year, up tempo became the reason they would start losing by 20.

It has to be in balance. You must have a lot of good ball handlers. Do i think Mike Williams could run up tempo?Yes. Grier, possibly. But besides that, we have a couple of players that are either young or have had issues with ball handling in the past.

If Daniels and Foreman could improve their ball handling, our team is 2-3 games better. I don't know what happens when you put foreman at the 3. His skillset might be right there, but I don't know about him handling the ball outside the post a lot.

Or better yet, pass more!We had issues last year when our tallest player on the court(KJ) would try to bring up the ball from the rebound. Same with Daniels. Turnover.

Nonetheless, seeing some balance on the floor with a press/uptempo play would be nice.

Higgins...in an ideal world, you would have three guys on the floor that could hit it beyond the arc...this creates spaces for feeding the ball inside and to penetrate

I don't know much about freemans game...but I do know foreman is really a four man with handle and ability to drive. He is a perfedt 4 man for what I think Eddie wants to run on the half court...but I don't see his ability to step out and be a perimeter threat

Know freeman played the four spot at JUCO ...not sure what his ability is away from the hoop

Think this explains why Eddie is looking at SG and sf in this class...we already have two good prospects at each the one and for spot

Freeman rebounds like more of a 4 and can get to the basket inside. He has had some good experience at Juco. I am not sure how it will translate to the big ten. I think him and foreman will be good competition for each other, because freeman really gets after it on the boards. Wills it.

If foreman can look at freemans rebounding and improve his, he will be a great player for us down the line. From a rebounding stand point, lewis, freeman, and diallo are looked to carry the load.

Right now, unless we run a 3 guard set, we're young at the 3. I know Laurent will be a good player, but he hasn't seen this competition. In HS, he played the three and grabbed a ton of boards.

Freeman is Adrian Hill's rebounding and type of athleticism with more offensive game. What I don't know about is his defensive abilities. There's zero chance he's a 3.

Sanders
(2 of) Williams/Grier/Daniels
Freeman
Lewis

(IMO) those are your starters. Bench rotation will be the remaining guard from Williams/Grier/Daniels, Foreman, Laurent, Shaq/Diallo and Goode

Freeman is not a 3.

Foreman has a better chance to see time there
BK, If Freeman is going to play the 4, then who is getting the majority of minutes at the three? Laurent? Goode? TO be honest I think Freeman will play the three alot simply because we have noone else.

Grier will see time there I would assume. 5th year player with experience.

All depends on who the match up is. If it's a faster/slower team, you will see more three guar lineups. The traditional 3 spot will be between Foreman and Laurent. I think Laurent will surprise with his ability to rebound, jumpshot, and defense.

Him and foreman will have some good competition. Should be interesting.

I would not be a bit surprised if Grier starts at sf/wing. He will be a 5th year senior and supposedly has a decent outside shot.
