My school is holding an assembly tomorrow for a group of boys who recently wrote that their common career goal is to be a professional athlete. Laviano, JPO, and Hamilton, along with Kyle Holder from the reach teamare going to speak. I'm looking forward to hearing their motivational message and I applaud them for taking the time.

This is nice to hear . We all know that at the end of the day these players are judged on wins and losses , but having these guys go out and represent RU in a positive way in the community is awesome .

There will be at least one athlete in the audience that will be swayed toward Rutgers. Small steps make giant leaps down the road.

These are boys who lack the work ethic to succeed. I honestly hope they're swayed toward college at all. For some, graduating high school will be good.

I hope that they go to the school with boxes of Rutgers tee shirts and magnets and vouchers for free tickets for the Howard game and anything else they can give away for free. That is the perfect opportunity to start swaying the young minds towards being RU fans.

That's not really the point of this. We're not trui,g to create Rutgers fans. We're trying to create productive young men.

Of course. I just think some young men have bigger issues. I'm not concerned with what team they root for. One kid raised his hand and asked Laviano how it feels to get cracked so often. Another asked why Nadir isn't playing anymore. After a very nice presentation about hard work, good attitude, and consequences, those were the questions.

These points are not mutually exclusive as a matter of Rutgers history they have gone hand in hand.
