Rutgers Baseball Article

When RU gets lights, I'm definitely going to night baseball games. Hope in a few years we get a 3500 seat RU baseball stadium and a 1500 seat RU softball stadium with lights, concessions, scoreboard, media, etc.

Matt, I really hope we can get Todd Frazier involved with the program when he retires. My guess is he will play at least one more year.

AYN, after decades of watching mistake after mistake decisions by RU, we are finally getting our act together—big upgrades in facilities, better coaches, fundraising, a great AD, and the money is just about to pour in so we don’t have to squeeze blood out nickels. We just have to hope President Barch’s replacement is supportive of athletics and hopefully has a background at a school with major athletics.

If we get that sports friendly President from a school with major athletics, the sky is the limit.

I'll buy everyone a round at OQT if we pull of this miracle!

Sounds like a coach who gets it and will not only do the big things, but the little things too, in order to win. One thing from the article that struck me: the center field fence says 405 feet but is actually 417. How the hell did RU miss that by 12 feet? Owens must have measured it for accuracy. Doing the little things.

This is STUNNING...almost like they did it on purpose to downplay the lack of HR's the team was hitting at some point in the past? Weird.

Old school guy. Don't like moving the center field fence in. In fact move the alley's back a bit. More room for triples, taking the extra base & good outfield play. More exciting baseball. Make the homer legit.

What are “normal” outfield wall dimensions in left/right and center?

Are we currently over or under that average, and once we make the change to center, how will that compare?

RUBrain, you don’t get much better than the stadium at Arkansas and center field is 400 feet, down the lines 320 feet and the alleys are 365 and 375. Have no idea if their stadium regularly has 150 mile an hour winds like Rutgers’ Bainton Field.
