Rutgers Boardwalk at The Rate Bowl!

This is a nice job by RU. I'm not going to the Rate Bowl but for those that are, this will be a great way to spend the time leading up to the game.

Nothing will ever match the pre-party for the 2005 Insight Bowl, but this should be a lot of fun.
Well if you're not going, I'm not! Just kidding - been on the fence for this one. None of our tailgate group or another group we occasionally hang with is going, plus, as you said, this is very unlikely to match 2005, so leaning towards just watching on TV.

Pretty cool. Sure the local bars will be ecstatic.
Well, unless they work with the local bars as partners. Otherwise, I'm sure the KSU fans will keep the bars occupied.

Another thought just occurred to me. If word gets out about how RU did this, maybe it makes us a more attractive pick next year (i.e. the Mayo Bowl might think "that would be cool if next time they do this in our parking lot"). It could potentially get more locals to go to the game, knowing the kiddies could get free rides and stuff.

She did and I’m still curious how they do it. It must not really be just outside the stadium because of mass transit. Must be on a cross street.
Plenty of spaces in area. We know this. About 1 year ago, we could not board the high speed train leaving the Billy Joel/Stevie Nicks concert because of the overflow of people. And this ain't NYC where another train is even 5, 10 or 15 minutes behind. Uber/Lyft were overwhelmed. We hoofed it nearly 4 miles back to where we parked in a lot alone the train line. Will never to that again and just park near the stadium. We had other reasons for doing what we did. For us, 4 miles was nothing, but people who have never been to Phoenix should know it gets very cold at night in the desert in December/January.

But it's a dry cold!

Mrs Shift has a few words she would like to share with you that cannot be repeated here. That was a very interesting walk along the train line from Chase Field to the 24th Street parking lot with the temps in the low to mid 30s. Next time we will fork over the usurious parking fees, but as I recall for that concert, there were not many places left to park.

Cool idea but... Did the Bowl not have any pregame experiences, so Rutgers had to take the Boardwalk on the road?

I hope the cost to the AD is minimal at best.
This is money that could go towards the illustrious field house.
It's interesting. We need tons of money for NIL and facilities but let's drop $100K for a bowl party?
Different budgets? Different revenue sources? I'm not against these investments in fan experience, but it does open up some questions. I think I would have rather paid Cliff to protect the rim and skip the party, lol.

You need money for all of it. If you don't focus on the fan/customer experience, then you lose fans/customers. People want and expect more than just watching a game on the bleachers with a hot dog. Otherwise, they'll watch on their comfortable couch and 65" TV.

Agreed. It is a good idea and my guess is it will be money well spent. It will be a PR plus... not only for Rutgers, but for NJ tourism.. hmmm.. maybe they should pay for it.
