Rutgers Capital Budget Request Sets the Stage for Massive Investment

To improve the baseball, softball, and track and field facilities the university requested $227 million, which will eventually result in the relocation of the fields. Another $114 million was requested to expand the RAC to include a parking structure and additional athletic facilities.

The cost estimates on various campus improvements are ridiculously high. $11 million for a foot bridge on Douglas campus; $30 million to replace an above ground parking deck with one that is underground..... I can go on and on. Most of the improvements are not cost justified. I have to get out of this state.

You have to pay up to the unions who control the Democratic Party. Payback for getting elected. Sad but true

If this money is slated to be allocated anyway, I would rather see it go toward educational infrastructure improvements rather than other projects. It's time for the state to invest heavily in the crown jewel of its state higher education system.
