Rutgers Commits Standing By Coach Flood

Let's all hope things settle down and we have (or get close) to a 6-6 record.

Whay he did might actually be good for recruiting. Really shows he'll go to bat for his players.

there are one or two verbals that were going to take a couple of additional visits, both before all this happened, and still intend to now.

it is slightly possible we could have a de-commit if another school is persuasive, but I would not blame the current happenings, it
would have happened anyway.....glad to see the verbal class of 2016 so supportive and understanding.

The recruiting period has changed significantly in the last 2-3 years. The majority of teams have 20+ recruits already committed before the season starts. Just 3-4 years ago, Rutgers would have had 2-3 recruits during the summer. The better teams are waiting for the top 5-4 star recruits to make their final commitment and then there's a scramble to fill the remaining openings with 3 stars. Yes, we might get a few commits that De commit but nothing to the extend of 2013. Most of the de commits were 4 stars recruits. Most teams are almost filled. In addition, our fans think our recruits are much better than their ranking which is only in their minds.

Anyhow, these recruits will hit the field earlier than at other schools.

Not-for-nothing but a slew guys, in the fall of 2013, kept claiming - after each decommit - that they weren't "going anywhere" but, well, they did.

From what I read, there are 2 commits claiming support for Flood after his suspension - Jabbie and the kicker from GA. The other stuff linked was from a few weeks ago after the arrests.

Not saying the other commits aren't solid, just that the article is a little misleading in light of recent events. Not that this will get noticed by a lot on here.

AYR,
Let's just keep hoping that Russo stays loyal. I would hate to see what would happen if he changes his mind.

People sometimes overestimate recruiting hits for all but the worst calamities, and certainly RU fans can't be blamed after the unprecedented 2013 fiasco. The truth is at this point spots have filled up and unless players want to go down to the Group of T type schools, previous offers may no longer be an option. This is especially true for classes like ours where players only have a few P5 offers to begin with.

Same as my response above.

AYR,
I know he have mentioned you have met Julie in person. Do you think she is the kind of person who might be willing to look outside for help in stabilizing the ship ? Maybe a temporary consultant recommended by Delany,Mulcahy,or even Schiano ?

The reactions of the players, parents, recruits, and people who work with Coach Flood and know him are the key to me. I will continue to support him to the extent they support him.

As far as the quality of this class goes, this is a very good class, particularly when you consider how previous Flood recruits have outperformed their alleged rankings. Think GRANT.

When LOI day comes, I'll say they back Kyle to the fullest.
But between then and now, will reserve judgement

That's why they call them reservations till signing day...as Flood (and many other HC's) have lost plenty of verbals when there were no scandals going on in their program...let alone now.

Coaches are important in recruiting..but smart recruits view the school and the program as almmost equals...as its now almost rare that the same HC will remain during all 5 years of a players college career...so pick a college where you will be happy at as well.
