Rutgers football 2016 schedule: A way-too-early breakdown

I read that story this morning, and it really was just a recap of where each team we play next year is at.

Regarding New Mexico, here is an interesting stat:
The Lobos ranked No. 6 in the nation with 37 rushing touchdowns, while attempting the sixth-fewest passes (208). I guess they are a run first offense?

What makes you think that?

Yes, they run almost every play.

I believe they run a triple-option. Bob Davie completely turned that program around they beat both Air Force and Boise St. I am 100% convinced a Flood-coached team would have lost this game.

Positive culture Nuts. Let it go.

Please don't tell me what to say, ever, thanks! If I want to speak honestly, about the past, I will. Also I'm pretty damn sure an Ash-led team will bring us victory, however, this is NOT as easy of a "w" as it once appeared to be; blows away the game (Army) it replaces.

It will be Rutgers coach Chris Ash’s return to Columbus and Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano’s first game against the program he built from 2001-015.

Somehow I don't think Schiano wants credit for 2012-15... or are they just ignoring that the Flood era ever happened?

They beat them on the blue turf. Boise had 640 total yards, 500 passing. Had a 40-11 advantage in 1st downs but turned the ball over 4 times, twice in the red zone I believe. Must have been a wild game. AF turned the ball over 3 times against them.

NM has rushed for almost 3,000 yards while passing for 1,500. Only complete 52% between the 2 QB's. One is the runner. They don't rely on the pass but average almost 15 YPC when they do. They have 3 WR's who average over 19 YPC but only had 5 TD's receiving against 11 interceptions. Still are #33 in the FBS in Turnover Margin.

I believe most of their starters return in 2016. Anyone interested can check them out Saturday afternoon against ASU.

Get to watch New Mexico this weekend on TV in their Bowl Game. They are a fast team.
One of their star RBs - Pressley ( #6 ) is from Delaware and is a Senior.

Yes I will be watching as well.

Yes, they are playing in their own Stadium for the Bowl game - 2:00pm Saturday ESPiN

Bob Davie has done a good job there.
He comes to Piscataway inSeptember, last time he was here he was coaching Notre Dame.
Still remember closing his clipboard when DB Berry dropped a sure pick 6 for RU with 1 minute to play in the 1st Half.

Sadly, yes.

Been saying it since the day Ash was hired: TEMPER expectations, for next season, this is a VERY difficult schedule, yes, more difficult than either this year's or last years, in all likelihood. Look for improvement, and excitement, across the board, but don't get caught up with "W's" and "L's' next season.

I'm not getting caught up in wins and losses. I am being realistic in terms of progress. On offense this could be a three year rebuild. Hoping to see improvement next year on d.

Giving Ash a bit of a pass from the W/L standpoint in his first year. Too much inertia to try to turn this program 180 degrees in the next 8 months against that schedule. I'm looking forward to seeing the seeds this year that will grow into something in 2017 and beyond - different philosophy, player improvement, etc. My guess is that we'll range somewhere from 4-8 to 6-6.

I think that is 100% realistic.
