Rutgers hoops call on WFAN this morning

LOL that was me... I figured he would s**t on us as always but just wanted to throw the "Not ST Johns" jab in there when he said every team has a good record. Long time caller first time listener line was on purpose BTW.
That was great. Nice job. Made me laugh hearing him get worked up. :joy:

I thought he might have a stroke. I talked to Recco yesterday and he was very nice. told him some of the stuff I hear on WFAN drives me nuts. And yes when the Johnnies lost to Delaware State i wanted to bust his chops.

I hate Francesca but I can't disagree with a single thing he says. He even adMitsubishi that St. Johnson stinks. what is there to disagree with or get worked up about?

I hate the big fatty on the radio but he's right on this one.

We (RU fan base) should be not pounding our chest AT ALL at this point. We haven't beat anyone at all. Its nice to win the games and the schedule should be soft because of our historic performance.

But I'm not bragging about RU basketball to anyone until we're 6 games into the conference schedule and see what we have at that point.

pretty much agree, Ru is 7-1 and has beaten sisters of the poor like many other schools, why would he say nice things about that. I dont know what the caller was trying to accomplish there

You should have made up teams that Rutgers beat. "We beat UMass. We beat Wichita State. We beat Memphis". Not like this guy would be checking.

How about this gem......

He's dumb and I wonder why some people continue to listen to him. I took a picture with him and Mad Dog back in the day at a spring game for the Frank Burns award. I found that picture a month ago and the first thing I did was burn it. Turns out I had a second picture my daughter found a few days ago...sh*t life is cruel.

I will never get sick of Mike squabbling with callers. I could never listen a full show of his but listening to some of the absurd clips on YouTube is a joy.

He spent at least 10 minutes in his opening talking about how it's retractable and that Dallas could've / should've left the roof open because they were playing a Florida team. But of course Dallas hasn't ever employed that as a game strategy ever and the people who pay a fortune for seats would've been livid if they had to sit in freezing weather when the place could be 70 degrees.

Mike's the best. That's his attraction to half the listeners - his inaccuracies, berating of callers, out of control ego, out of touch opinions , etc. It's like a sports comedy show. Still better than nearly everybody on ESPN radio.

And he can't hold a candle to anyone on XM radio

This comment is buffoonery if you are referring to the College Sports channel. Most of them are amateurs. I hate Francesa, but your comment is nonsense for the College Sports channel.

That contradicts what he said yesterday, of course.

Based on your comment I take it you don't listen to the station. The so called amateurs you speak of are people who have been in the business a long time. Guys like Packer and people who have actually played sports at a college or professional level and last but not least those who actually coached at those levels.
I think that if you are in the talk show business not belitteling, talking down to your listeners, hanging up on your callers, having an astute understanding of what your discussing on the air etc is what makes one a pro. Unfortunately Francesa has none of these qualities

I took my daughter the day mad dogs wife her first baby and he couldn't
make it. So Mike was there alone, he was signing autographs, my daughter said hi, his reply
was, "next". Never looked up, never made eye contact, just rude the whole time, all he said the whole
time to all the kids was "next" that's one miserable son of a bitch.

Caught the tail end of ESPN just pounding on him for his utter ignorance on the "retractable roof" - exposing his incompetence - they pointed out that his whole line of blather was pointless, baseless & obviously proof of his sloppy work ethic - because there were stated guidelines from the NFL prohibiting manipulation of the environment for obvious competitive advantage - ESPN quoted an NFL position statement that was something like - the roof can only be open when the outside temperature is between 40 and 80 degrees and no precipitation.

You need to turn on SiriusXM's College Sports station and listen. The guys in the morning are embarrassing amateurs. So is the slobbering fool they have on at midday. Billy Packer's son's partners on his show are broadcast nobodies. The days of Bill King, Tim Brando, and Paul Finebaum have been over for a long time. The current broadcasters are promotional shills -- charmless, unsophisticated, witless, and their interviews stink. Did I miss anything?

But isn't that the norm now? Everyone wants to be someone, but offer nothing of value.
