Rutgers is Favored -35.5! Can Rutgers Cover?

I actually agree with them when they say we can win by 35 but the question will come down to exactly what GS wants to accomplish. He may opt to keep some guys in to work on familiarity and timing or take guys out, run the ball, and use clock and get out with a win and no injuries. Bottom line is it should be a win by a large margin.

I hope they let Kaliakmanis loose early in this game to get him some good experience with his new team and receivers.

Don't really care if we cover, just want the starters to get some game reps to get them used to playing, then pull them and let the second team get some meaningful reps. The ultimate goal is to come out of this injury-free. No Howard game wild 2006 where we lost our most experienced WR for the season Shawn Tucker.

Howard almost beat NW last year.
If Howard put a scare into RU it couldn't hurt.
Praise media has been deadly for RU under GS

The concern is something like the 2014 game. 10-7 at the end of the 1st on s Paul James 69 yd TD pass with 40 seconds left in the qtr. Then the depth took over in the 2nd. (hot day) and RU scores another 21 in the 2nd. . Add 10 in the 3td then the bench gets emptied and Howard scored 2 TDs in the 4th. 38-25.

Howard is better than the Howard we were use to. As mentioned they almost beat Northwestern last year and ended in first place in the MEAC. The current spread is 36.5 points. I don't think we will be aggressive to run up the score. Five touchdowns may be a little too much.

Are they a senior led team? Anyone know anything about this year’s team?

While I think we cover there is always the wonder, not if the 2nd and 3rd teams play but when…and do we just shut it down.
That said- my gut tells me- Greg is seeing something this year he can use in the near future- and he may play it like the big boys do..,- run it up for the cash he gave them.
We don’t think it matters but if GS is sensing he has something special- a 30 pt win in a game like this is a huge difference than a 50 pt win

Myself- I always just like a win tgat we looked good in

get everyone on the field. these are the games where the guys you don't know without a scorecard should play. Just get out healthy.

When my son played- it was always funny, when he wasn't starting, we would get so pissed when it was a game like this or a blowout either way and Greg was keeping the starters in...which he did a lot.
But then, when he was starting- we still got pissed at Greg for keeping the starters in too long and we would have to worry about a stupid injury.

Greg was not one to run up scores but he had a bad habit of keeping starters in a game way too long but just scale down the playbook. I would rather he pulls the starters but not scale down the play book.

Lately, Rutgers is better than we were used to as well. I ain't worried for you guys...

At his press conference, Schiano hinted that we had some injuries that may limit playing time for starters - that’s just my observation unless he was bluffing. As others said, the goal is to win and get out of the game without any major injuries. Anything else is a bonus, although playing time for the backups would help us down the road.

I guess that means it is a good thing we aren't playing Harvard this year, they may have been favored.

In a game like this, I don't think he is worried much about hiding who is dinged or not.

Is there such a thing as a 1st half line? Schiano calls off the dogs in these games more often than not.

We will cover if Schiano wants us to...
Pretty much this.. the game will be well in hand and at that point it comes down to how much messing around we do etc. There is so much noise in these 30+ point lines I can't imagine anyone having a legit edge betting these.
