"We have been working very hard to put ourselves and our program in the position to make these moves and we are thankful to Pat Hobbs and our leadership to have established the Director of Operations position so we could enhance our coaching staff and their duties to make us better," added Donigan. "Our program is excited to be able to place these guys in their respective positions and anticipate great production from both of them as we head into the future for men's soccer at Rutgers University. I personally am very proud to have these guys and Coach Beck on my staff."

Hobbs really gets the need for proper support at the coaching level. Having the full allotment of positions filled is super important.

The fact that we are just getting a DOB position means we were behind, as we were in lacrosse until Pat came on board. Dude gets it, and makes it happen.

Hobbs honestly might be the only AD who gave a damn about the Olympic sports at RU and is working tirelessly to grow them and fund them properly. Can't wait until we get the B1G payday in 3 years.

I think part of that is the realization by Rutgers this kind of thing matters in the B1G. The old Big East and the AAC not so much.

Couldn't agree more. Every sport matters in the B1G, whether it's football, hoops, lacrosse, soccer or the chess team.

Definitely true. The BE and Aac were single horse leagues.

The B1G is fully formed. If these programs field a team, they want to win. No matter what sport it is. I think in our development, Hobbs has some earmarked sports for funding to the greatest amount possible. I think we can tell what sports those are. When more funds come in, I would think that will extend further.

But we all need to donate. Our new peer group spends more than just what the conference payouts are. That is a nice to have, but not the baseline. It's Hobbs' job to monetize the department to the fullest extent possible, including marketing partnerships, which I expect will grow significantly. It's alums/fans job to donate.

That's how the big schools roll. Then when you need to build a new lacrosse facility and you have only been a program for 5 years like Michigan, you build the best one in NCAA lacrosse.

Mulcahy & Pernetti knew Olympic sports were important but they were working with less money & admin support so they had to focus on FB & not much else. Hobbs has more $ & admin support & a lot of that is due to being in the B1G now, knowing that huge $ is coming & that he is a former law school dean that is righting the ship after scandals. He still should've fired DD. Our athletics dept is on the right upwards trajectory.

I have a good feeling Hobbs will be trimming the fat some this year amongst our underachieving Olympic sport HCs (I'm looking at you Donigan and Brand Sias).

Coach Meredith Civico is building something at Rutgers. Has had two very good recruiting classes in a row & the team had a good year last year. This addition of Austyn Cuneo only boosts the trajectory.

Agree with BigMatt BrandSilas should have been gone by now women's lacrosse will never be good as long as she is the coach

That's true about FB getting the bulk of the attention and not enough money and support for under those two. But it is also true that until we got to our new place the amount of importance placed on those sports was not nearly the same in the Big East and the AAC. Everything matters in the B1G.

The thing that Hobbs understands is that in this league if you are not constantly investing in and improving all sports, not only will you be unable to compete you will get downright embarrassed. If you look at two of our better sports, wrestling and lax, in the former we finished ranked 12 and were tied for 6th in our own conference and the latter we finished 15th in the nation with the most wins in the history of our program and ended up 5th in a 6 team conference and didn't make the conference tourney.

It doesn't help the school to be in this conference and get destroyed in every sport, and Hobbs understands that if we don't bring every sport at least on par with the rest of the conference, that is exactly what will happen.
