Just have to note that item 5 makes no sense as written. Antidotes are a way of preventing something from happening, so "antidotes to dismantling" means "ways to prevent dismantling." But of course "dismantling" is precisely what these folks want. The organizers of this event need English lessons.

BTW, it"s "United State-ian" culture because these folks want to reserve "America" for North and South America, not just the United States. It is my understanding that, for the same reason, some people in Mexico are offended when people from the U.S. call themselves "Americans,:

As far as not donating -- in any organization there are bound to be some f-ck-ups. I would just allocate a gift to scholarship money, which is badly needed and helps students, the vast bulk of whom would want nothing to do with anything like this

I feel this is fair. However, in this particular organization, (in my opinion) the f-ck-ups are the school President and the Board of Trustees (in addition to a large portion of the faculty and a majority of the school administrative employees).

Somebody needs to say, "enough."

You probably mean the Board of Governors (dominated by the Governor's appointees) more than the Board of Trustees, which has a limited role. Speaking as someone who is about to finish 34 years teaching at Rutgers, I agree that our lords and masters leave a lot to be desired. That's why I only donate to student scholarships, not to "discretionary" funds.

Ignore those people. Try calling a Mexican,American and watch them get offended.

Not sure if previous posters were talking about the War for Texas Independence or the Mexican-American War—-After what they did at The Alamo slaughtering everyone even after they surrendered, Mexico was lucky Texans didn’t burn everything to the ground all the way to Mexico City. Texas won the war basically on their own with little help. The Republic of Texas would have become one of the strongest and most affluent nations on the planet, even if they hadn’t joined the USA.

Events like this that are associated with Rutgers are a major reason a significant number of good students and their Moms and Dads won’t even consider Rutgers.

Well I don’t consider Rutgers-N “Rutgers” anyway. But you’re right, things like this don’t help.

E5, For years I sat next to a guy at Rutgers Football games who graduated from Rutgers College wayyyy back. He said unless you went to Rutgers College, you weren’t really a Rutgers grad. So that left me (Newark) out, plus Cook,Douglass, Camden, Livingston, and probably the law, medical, and other grad schools out. He also used to say he wished we had never stopped playing Bucknell,Lehigh, Lafayette, etc. And people wonder why there is so little connection between New Jerseyans and their State University. When you have Rutgers grads telling other Rutgers grads that they didn’t really go to Rutgers because they weren’t on College Avenue, what kind of devotion is there going to be toward RU from the average state resident? With about 70,000 current Rutgers students, the percentage of students in College Avenue in New Brunswick is fairly low these days and will likely get lower as expansion occurs in Camden, Newark,Cook, and possibly Livingston.

Keeping it close by...

Is Penn State-Harrisburg “Penn State”?

Same question for UMD-Baltimore County and Eastern Shore. Are they “Maryland” too?

All Latin Americans find the term "Americano" to at least be inappropriate as to the US. In both Spanish and Portuguese the correct term is "estadounidense" which is like you said, United States-ian. And generally there will be confusion if you use "Americano"- to them that applies from Patagonia to Nunavut.

E5, as you know the New Jersey Rutgers model is different than other states. I was accepted at all of the Piscataway/New Brunswick campuses (except Douglass), but did not like the size of the campus so decided to attend the Newark campus. I have never run into anyone, personally or professionally, who cared which Rutgers campus I graduated from, except that guy at the football games. You certainly are entitled to your opinion. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Go Rutgers, The State University of ALL of New Jersey—Scarlet Raptors, Scarlet Raiders, and Scarlet Knights !!!
