I believe -- but am not sure -- that one continues to be paid one's full salary on administrative leave. Perhaps the administration does not want him teaching "Politicizing Beyonce" among other courses. (He's in the department of "gender studies.")

I thought he was an adjunct professor, which means about $3000 to $4000 (approx.) to teach a single class. There are no benefits, and only renewed at discretion of the university. What does "administrative leave" mean for an adjunct? I think adjuncts don't get paid until the class is over, so it is possible he hasn't been paid anything yet for this class.

You're correct; he is a part-time lecturer and therefore an adjunct. I think that, at least at the law school, adjuncts get paid during the term. My guess is that administrative leave means he was told that, for the time being, his services are not wanted.
